Who Can Apply?

For General Counsellor:

  • You need a graduate degree, preferably with Social Science, Sociology, Psychology, Clinical Psychiatry or Law as a subject.
  • You must have at least 2 years of experience in social work/welfare, or in fieldwork, research or teaching related to family welfare or problems of women and children.
  • Your job will involve counselling couples in matrimonial disputes, helping them understand and resolve conflicts, and analysing behavioural patterns that drive the dispute.

For Child Counsellor:

  • You need a graduate degree, preferably with Social Science, Sociology, Psychology, Clinical Psychiatry or Law as a subject.
  • You must have at least 2 years of experience in social work/welfare, or in fieldwork, research or teaching related to family or child welfare.
  • Your job will involve counselling children and parents on custody, joint custody and shared parenting, and assessing what best supports the child's stability and welfare.

Note: If you want to apply for both posts, you must submit a separate application form for each.

Age Limit

  • As per the notification, you should have attained 35 years of age as on 1 January 2026.

Salary

  • Selected Counsellors will be paid an honorarium or fee per sitting, fixed as per the Punjab Family Courts Rules or as notified by the State Government from time to time.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is based on:
