ESIC is hiring 118 Professors on direct recruitment basis across 22 medical specialties in ESIC PGIMSRs and ESIC Medical Colleges. ESIC Professor Recruitment 2026 - 118 Posts
The Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), under the administrative control of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India, has released a notification to fill 118 teaching faculty positions at the Professor level in ESIC PGIMSRs and ESIC Medical Colleges. Selected candidates are liable to be posted anywhere in India, and reserved vacancies include 11 backlog SC, 6 backlog ST and 23 backlog OBC posts. 8 posts are identified for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).

Who Can Apply?
Essential for Medical Candidates
- A recognised medical qualification listed in the First or Second Schedule or Part-II of the Third Schedule of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 (holders of Part-II Third Schedule qualifications must also satisfy Section 13(3)).
- A postgraduate qualification such as MD (Doctor of Medicine) or MS (Master of Surgery), or equivalent qualification recognised in the respective subject or allied discipline.
Essential for Non-Medical Candidates
- A postgraduate qualification (Master's degree) in the concerned subject or allied discipline.
- A Doctorate degree from a recognised University in the respective subject or allied discipline.
Experience
- 4 years teaching experience as a Reader or Associate Professor in a recognised medical college in the concerned specialty, OR
- 3 years teaching experience as Associate Professor in the concerned specialty in a recognised medical college, with a minimum of 4 research publications in indexed/national journals as First Author (and at least 2 must have been published during the Associate Professor tenure).
- Experience must be recognised by the National Medical Commission (formerly MCI). Teaching experience as General Duty Medical Officer (GDMO) is not counted.
Age Limit
- Upper age limit: not exceeding 50 years as on the closing date (27 July 2026).
- Relaxable up to 5 years for ESIC and Central Government servants.
- SC/ST: 5 years relaxation
- OBC: 3 years relaxation
- PwBD: 10 years relaxation (maximum age cannot exceed 56 years)
- Ex-Servicemen / ECOs / SSCOs: 5 years relaxation
Salary
- Pay Level: Pay Level-13 in the 7th CPC pay matrix
- Pay range: Rs. 1,23,100 to Rs. 2,15,900 per month
- Plus Non-Practising Allowance (NPA) as admissible to analogous posts in Central Health Service
- Plus Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA) and Transport Allowance (TA) as per rules

- SC / ST / PwBD / Ex-Servicemen: No fee
- ESIC employees (regular / contractual / adhoc / tenure basis) are liable to pay Rs. 500

Selection Process
Selection is purely interview-based. There is no written examination.
- Shortlisting based on Experience: If applications are large, ESIC will shortlist on the basis of teaching experience as Associate Professor / Reader or higher posts beyond the eligibility requirement.
- Interview: Total 100 marks. The interview will be held at a place decided by ESIC.
- Document Verification on the day of interview.
Minimum qualifying marks in the interview: UR/EWS - 50, OBC - 45, SC/ST/PwBD - 40 out of 100.
In case of a tie: (i) elder candidate first, (ii) earlier date of passing PG degree, (iii) earlier date of completing internship.

Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate and postgraduate students in the assigned medical specialty
- Conduct clinical work and provide patient care in the concerned department
- Prepare lesson plans, study materials and question papers as per the NMC curriculum
- Guide postgraduate students in their thesis, dissertations and research projects
- Carry out academic and clinical research and publish in indexed journals
- Participate in departmental committees and administrative duties
- Train senior residents and assistant professors in the department
- Contribute to setting up first-rate medical education benefiting insured persons of ESI Corporation
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
MD/MS or equivalent recognised PG medical qualification in the respective specialty (for medical candidates). For non-medical specialties: Master's Degree + Doctorate (Ph.D.) in the concerned subject.
Preferred Qualification
Recognised qualification listed in First/Second Schedule or Part-II of Third Schedule of Indian Medical Council Act, 1956.

Application fee is Rs. 500 for General / OBC / EWS / Departmental male candidates, payable by Demand Draft drawn on 'ESI Fund Account No.2' at Delhi. Female, SC, ST, PwBD and Ex-Servicemen candidates are exempted from fee.
