The Department of Defence Production (DDP), under the Ministry of Defence, has released a vacancy circular to fill one post of Deputy Planning Officer (Naval System-Modernization) in the Directorate of Planning and Coordination (Dte of P&C). This is a by-transfer-on-deputation / short-term contract appointment, not an open-market exam recruitment. The role suits serving naval and defence officers who handle shipbuilding, naval systems, and modernization work for the Indian Navy.

Who Can Apply?

This post is open to serving government officers and PSU employees only. You can apply if you fall under any one of these:

• All India Services officers or officers holding analogous posts in Central Civil Services Group 'A', or in DRDO.
• Officers holding analogous posts in Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).
• Serving Service Officers holding the substantive rank of Lt Col / Cdr / Wg Cdr in the Indian Army / Navy / Air Force.

Desirable Qualifications

• Experience and knowledge of shipbuilding, naval platforms and systems, shipborne equipment, and naval weapons / communication / electronic systems.
• Knowledge of Defence Acquisition Procedures.
• You should have undergone the Staff College Course.
• A serving Naval Officer of the rank of Commander who has preferably completed a tenure at Naval HQ is preferred.

Age Limit

• No fixed upper age is given, but you must have a residual service of at least 4 years from the date the vacancy circular was issued (23 June 2026).

Salary

• The post is at Pay Level 12 / 12A (Rs. 78,800 - Rs. 2,09,200 per month) as per the 7th Central Pay Commission.
• Your pay on deputation will be fixed as per existing government rules. Service Officers on deputation will continue to draw pay and allowances from their respective CDAs.

Selection Process

There is no written exam for this deputation post. Selection works like this:

1. Application Screening: Your application must be forwarded with your last 5 years' ACR/APAR dossier, integrity certificate, and a major/minor penalty statement.
2. Recommendation by your administrative authority: Your office must certify your particulars and confirm no disciplinary or vigilance case is pending against you.
3. Final selection is done by DDP based on suitability and eligibility.

Note: Officers who apply will not be allowed to withdraw their candidature later.

• Advise on maintenance and logistic support for Naval Dockyards in consultation with Service HQs and Defence PSUs
• Represent the Department of Defence Production in TEC, TOEC, CNC, and feasibility studies for 'Make' projects
