CSIR-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-NEERI), Nagpur has released advertisement no. RECRUIT_SD_9A_EBT_20052026 for engaging 4 Project Associate-II on a purely temporary basis under the project "Implementation of Wastewater Surveillance for Multi-pathogens across India (GAP-3075)". Selection is through an online interview only — no written exam. The position is tenable at CSIR-NEERI Nagpur or its Zonal Centres.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: M.Sc. or Integrated Masters in Microbiology, Biotechnology, or Environmental Science from a recognised university.
• Experience: 2 years of experience in Research and Development, Academic Institutions, or Science and Technology Organisations, counted after acquiring the essential qualification.
• Desired Skills: Experience in wastewater sampling, transport, logistics and data management; surveillance of pathogens in water samples; hands-on experience in nucleic acid extraction, DNA sequencing and data analysis; working knowledge of BSL2/3 laboratory.
• Final semester appearing or result awaited candidates are not eligible. Only candidates who have already completed the qualification (at least with a provisional certificate) can apply.

Age Limit

• Upper age limit: 35 years, calculated as on the last date of receipt of applications (27 May 2026).
• Age relaxation will be given to SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates as per CSIR rules.

Salary

• Rs. 35,000 per month + HRA — for candidates who have qualified CSIR-UGC / ICAR / ICMR NET (Lectureship/Assistant Professorship) or GATE, or any national-level examination conducted by Central Government Departments like DBT/DST or equivalent agencies.
• Rs. 28,000 per month + HRA — for candidates who do not fall in the above category.
• The position is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection will be made in the following stages:

1. Screening of Applications: If a large number of applications are received, the Screening Committee will shortlist candidates based on its own criteria.
2. Online Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an online interview through MS Teams, Skype, or similar platform. The interview date will be notified on www.neeri.res.in.

Mere fulfilment of the minimum qualification does not give the right to be called for the interview.

• Maintain BSL2 or BSL3 laboratory conditions during all sampling and testing work
• Keep accurate records of sample logistics, lab analysis, and surveillance findings
• Prepare technical reports and contribute to project publications
• Support project leaders with day-to-day R&D tasks under the GAP-3075 project
