CSIR-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-NEERI) is a constituent laboratory of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India. It is hiring for its Chennai Regional Centre (CRC) under the project "Development of Low-Strontium Salts-based Fireworks: A Promising Approach to Minimize Critical Mineral Use in the Firework Industries (FTT-030613)", which studies safer chemical alternatives for the fireworks industry. The selected candidate will work on chemical analysis of firecracker samples. One post is open now, with up to 2 more possible from a waiting list depending on funding. Selection is entirely through a walk-in interview — there is no online application or written exam.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You need a B.Sc. degree with Chemistry as one of your subjects, from a recognized university or institute.
• Job Role: Your work will involve fieldwork, sample collection, physicochemical analysis of firecracker samples, data compilation and report preparation.
• Important: You must already have your final result declared (at least a provisional certificate). Final-semester or result-awaited candidates cannot apply.

Terms of the Engagement

• This post is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project — it will end when the project ends and does not carry any right to regularization against a CSIR/CSIR-NEERI post.
• Either side can end the engagement with one month's notice (or one month's pay in lieu of notice).
• A review committee assesses performance and recommends extension of your tenure, subject to availability of project funds.

Age Limit

• You should be 35 years or younger as on the last date of receipt of applications.
• No separate age relaxation categories are listed in this notification, though you should mention your category on the application form.

Salary

• You will get Rs. 20,000 per month plus House Rent Allowance (HRA).
• Your salary goes up by 15% after 3 years of experience in the same project.

CSIR-NEERI Chennai will select candidates directly through a walk-in interview:

1. Document Verification: Bring your original certificates plus one photocopy set each of your 10th, 12th, graduation and post-graduation (if applicable) mark sheets and degrees, along with your Aadhaar card and a passport-size photo.
2. Walk-in Interview: Held in person at the venue on the scheduled date and time.
