CSIR-IIIM, Jammu, a premier institute working under the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), Department of Scientific & Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India, has released Project Advertisement No. 26/2026 dated 11 August 2026 for 2 Project Associate-I positions. These posts are attached to project GAP-3189, titled "Systematic Design and Synthesis of Functionalized G3 Palladium Precatalysts for Cross-Coupling Reactions to Construct C-C and C-B Bonds," and are tenable at CSIR-IIIM, Jammu.

CSIR-IIIM is located on Canal Road, Jammu, and works on drug discovery and integrative medicine research as part of India's national CSIR laboratory network under the Ministry of Science & Technology. Positions like this Project Associate-I role support ongoing sponsored research projects at the institute and give chemistry postgraduates hands-on synthetic chemistry experience.

The engagement will initially be for one year or until the project ends, whichever is earlier, and may be extended or shortened based on project needs and your performance. The current project runs until 8 July 2028. However, your total tenure across all CSIR labs, including this one, cannot exceed 6 years. This position is purely temporary and on behalf of the sponsoring agency, so it does not carry any right to absorption on a permanent post in CSIR-IIIM or CSIR.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: M.Sc, M.S., M.Pharm, or M.Tech in Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or Pharmaceutical Chemistry from a recognized university, or an equivalent degree.
• Desirable: Research experience or knowledge in Organic Synthesis or Natural Products Chemistry will be preferred.
• Category (a): Candidates who have qualified CSIR-UGC/ICAR/ICMR NET (including Lectureship/Assistant Professorship) or GATE, or who have cleared national-level exams conducted by central government departments such as DBT/DST or their agencies, are eligible for the higher stipend.
• Category (b): Candidates who do not fall under category (a) are eligible for the lower stipend.

In short, if you have qualified a recognized national-level test such as CSIR-UGC NET or GATE, you fall under category (a) and get the higher stipend. If not, you are considered under category (b) with the standard stipend — either way, you can apply as long as you meet the essential qualification.

Age Limit

• The upper age limit for this post is 50 years.
• Age Relaxation: Relaxation in the age limit will be given as per Government of India rules. Your age will be counted as on 23 August 2026, the last date for receiving applications.

Salary

• Category (a) candidates (NET/GATE qualified or equivalent) will get Rs. 37,000 per month plus HRA.
• Category (b) candidates will get Rs. 30,000 per month plus HRA.
• HRA (House Rent Allowance) will be paid only if institutional accommodation is not availed of or not provided.

Selection Process

The selection will be done through the following steps:

1. Application Screening: If a large number of candidates apply, the Screening Committee may revise the screening criteria as needed.
2. Interview: Selection is based on an online interview conducted through MS Teams. You can respond in English or Hindi during the interview.

If you are shortlisted and selected, the institute will verify your original documents — including educational qualification, date of birth, caste certificate, and age relaxation certificate — before finalising your appointment. Any discrepancy found at this stage will cancel your selection.
