CSIR-IIIM Junior Research Fellow Recruitment 2026: Overview

CSIR-Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine (CSIR-IIIM), a Jammu-based lab of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, is holding a walk-in interview for a Junior Research Fellow under Project Advertisement No. 39/2026. The position sits at the institute's Branch Lab in Sanat Nagar, Srinagar, not at the Jammu headquarters.

The fellow will work on project GAP3203, funded by the Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM). The study aims to scientifically validate Itrifal Sanai, a traditional Unani formulation, for managing stress and depressive disorders. This is a purely temporary, project-based engagement, not a regular CSIR post.

The notice gives preference to candidates with hands-on laboratory animal work and experimental techniques in neurological disorders, neurodegenerative diseases or neuroscience. If your M.Sc or M.Pharm research involved cell culture, molecular biology or biochemical assays, this project is a close fit.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Initial term: One year, or until the project ends if that is earlier. The project itself currently runs for only two years.
• Extension: The term can be extended or cut short depending on project needs and your performance or conduct.
• Overall cap: Your total tenure across all CSIR labs cannot go beyond five years. Unsatisfactory performance can end the engagement without notice.
• No absorption: The post is on behalf of the sponsor, so it gives you no claim to a permanent post at CSIR-IIIM or CSIR.
• Offer depends on funds: The engagement offer goes out only after the institute receives the project funds from the sponsor.
• Number of posts: The count may change at the time of the interview, and the Director can choose not to fill the post at all.
• Current CSIR-IIIM project staff: You need a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the office before applying; without it your candidature will not be considered.
• Screening: If many candidates turn up, the Screening/Selection Committee may tighten the screening criteria.
• Travel: No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.
• Language: You can talk to the Selection Committee in English or Hindi. If the Hindi and English versions of the notice differ, the English version is final.

There is no online form. Go straight to CSIR-IIIM Branch Lab, Sanat Nagar, Srinagar on the interview day and report between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM. Anyone who reports after 10:00 AM will not be allowed to appear.

Carry the Annexure-I application form from the notice, fully filled in.
