Central Agricultural University (CAU) Imphal Project Assistant Walk-In Interview 2026 - 1 Post
The College of Horticulture, Bermiok (a constituent college of Central Agricultural University, Imphal) is calling eligible candidates for a walk-in interview to fill 1 Project Assistant post under the research project “Collection, Conservation and Morpho-phenological Characterization of Avocado Germplasms Found in Sikkim.” The project studies and safeguards native avocado varieties found across Sikkim, and it is funded by the Centre of Fruitful India, Alliance Bioversity and CIAT (Bioversity International) for a duration of 3 years. There is no written exam — selection happens entirely through the walk-in interview and document check. Candidates with a postgraduate degree in horticulture-related subjects and hands-on field experience in germplasm collection, nursery management, or fruit crop propagation are best suited for this role.
The position is offered by the Fruit Science section of the College of Horticulture under the supervision of Dr. Yamuna Pandey, who is the Principal Investigator of the project. Since the college works on avocado germplasm conservation in the hill state of Sikkim, the role suits candidates who enjoy field-based research and are comfortable traveling to remote horticultural sites for surveys and data collection.

- Qualification: M.Sc. in Horticulture, Agriculture, Fruit Science, or Genetics & Plant Breeding.
- Desirable: Experience in field survey, germplasm collection and characterization of horticultural crops; nursery management and propagation techniques for fruit crops; good documentation, report-writing and communication skills.

- This is a fixed monthly amount — no separate DA, HRA or other allowances are mentioned in the notification.
Selection Process (Walk-In Interview — No Written Exam)
Selection happens in a single stage:
- Walk-In Interview and Document Verification: You must report at the venue at least 30 minutes before the scheduled time with your application, biodata, photograph, and original certificates for verification.
Just meeting the minimum qualification does not guarantee selection — the Institute will call only as many candidates as it needs based on qualification and suitability, and the Principal Investigator reserves the right to cancel or modify the recruitment process without assigning any reason.
Terms of Engagement
- The post is purely contractual and co-terminus with the project (up to 3 years). Your performance will be reviewed by the project team every 6 months.
