The Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) has released Advt. No. 08/2026 to fill 65 Company Commander posts in the Bihar Home Guard service cadre through a competitive examination. Selection is based on a two-stage written exam (Prelims and Mains) followed by a Physical Efficiency Test. This is a great chance for graduates in Bihar who want a uniformed, officer-level government job. Reservation benefits, including 35% horizontal reservation for women, apply only to candidates who are original residents of Bihar.

Vacancy Breakdown

A total of 65 posts are open. The category-wise split is:

• Unreserved (General): 26 posts
• Extremely Backward Class (EBC): 12 posts
• Scheduled Caste (SC): 10 posts
• Backward Class (BC): 7 posts
• Economically Weaker Section (EWS): 7 posts
• Backward Class Women (BC Women): 2 posts
• Scheduled Tribe (ST): 1 post

35% of posts in each category are reserved horizontally for women. 2% of posts (1 post) are reserved for grandchildren of freedom fighters of Bihar.

Who Can Apply?

• Nationality: You must be an Indian citizen. Men, women, and third-gender candidates can all apply.
• Qualification: You must have a graduation (Bachelor's) degree from a recognised university, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the State Government, as on 01 August 2025.
• Domicile: Reservation benefits apply only to original residents of Bihar. Candidates from other states will be treated as unreserved.

Age Limit

Age is counted as on 01 August 2025, based on your matriculation (10th) certificate.

• General (Male): 20 to 37 years
• General (Female): 20 to 40 years
• BC / EBC (Male & Female): 20 to 40 years
• SC / ST and Third Gender (Male & Female): 20 to 42 years
• Bihar government servants seeking a higher pay scale who have completed 3 years of regular service get up to 5 years age relaxation.
• Ex-servicemen get age relaxation as per rules (actual age not above 57 years).

Salary

• The post is in Pay Level-6 of the 7th Pay Commission, with a pay range of Rs. 35,400 to Rs. 1,12,400 per month.
• You will also get DA, HRA, and other allowances as per Bihar Government rules.

Physical Standards

No marks are given for height, chest, or weight, but you must meet the minimum standards or you will be declared unsuccessful.

For Male Candidates:

• Height: General / BC — 165 cm; EBC / SC / ST — 160 cm
• Chest (General / BC / EBC): 81 cm (normal), 86 cm (expanded) — minimum 5 cm expansion needed
• Chest (SC / ST): 79 cm (normal), 84 cm (expanded) — minimum 5 cm expansion needed

For Female Candidates:

• Height: 155 cm (all categories)
• Weight: Minimum 48 kg (all categories)
• Chest is not measured for women

Application Fee

• All candidates (Male / Female / Third Gender, all categories): Rs. 100
• Payment mode: Online only (Credit Card / Debit Card / Net Banking / UPI)

Selection Process

Selection is done in the following stages:

1. Preliminary Exam: One objective paper of 200 marks with 100 questions in 2 hours, covering General Knowledge and Current Affairs. You must score at least 30% to qualify. Candidates up to 20 times the vacancies are shortlisted for the Mains.
2. Main Exam: Two papers. Paper 1 (General Hindi) — 100 questions for 200 marks, qualifying at 30% (marks not added to merit). Paper 2 (General Studies, Science, Civics, History, Geography, Maths, Reasoning) — 100 questions for 200 marks, counted for merit. Both papers are objective and run for 2 hours each.
3. Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Candidates up to 6 times the vacancies (based on Mains merit) are called. You only need to pass — no marks are added.
4. Medical Examination and Character Verification: The final step before appointment.

Negative Marking: 0.2 marks are deducted for every wrong answer in both the Prelims and Mains.

Minimum qualifying marks for the final merit: SC/ST/Women 32%, EBC 34%, BC 36.5%, General 40%.

3. Fill in your personal, educational, and category details correctly.
4. Upload your photo and required documents.
5. Pay the application fee of Rs. 100 online.
6. Submit the form and take a printout for your records.

Each candidate can submit only one online application. Do not raise a chargeback after paying — it can lead to rejection and legal action.
