Ladakh Police Constable Recruitment 2026: Overview
Ladakh Police, through the Ladakh Police Subordinate Service Recruitment Board, is filling Constable (Level-02) posts across the Executive, Armed, IRP, SDRF, Border Battalion and Women Battalion cadres. This is a direct recruitment under the Ladakh Police (Subordinate) Service Recruitment (Revised) Rules, 2026, and it is one of the largest constable drives the Union Territory has run since its district reorganisation. Only candidates holding a Ladakh domicile certificate can apply. This is a stable, pensionable government job — a strong option for Ladakh's youth who want to start a career in law enforcement close to home.
Posts and Disciplines
- Executive/Armed/IRP/SDRF: the main cadre group, open to eligible male and female candidates with a Ladakh domicile certificate; treated as a single preference group with no inter-se choice among Executive, Armed, IRP and SDRF postings.
- Border Battalion: open only to candidates holding a domicile certificate for an eligible border village, as recognised by the competent authority.
- Women Battalion: open only to female candidates; male candidates cannot be considered against these posts.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Domicile: A valid Ladakh Union Territory Domicile Certificate is mandatory for every candidate.
- Cadre preference: Candidates rank the Executive/Armed/IRP/SDRF, Border Battalion and Women Battalion groups in the online form; allocation follows merit, eligibility and vacancy availability, not preference alone.
- Horizontal reservation: 15% for serving Special Police Officers with 3+ years' service, 4% for Voluntary Home Guards with 5+ years' service, 4% for Outstanding Sportspersons, 20% for Ex-Agniveers and 6% for Ex-Servicemen.
- Liability: Selected constables can be posted anywhere in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
- Training bond: Resigning before the prescribed period means refunding the training expenses and pay/allowances received.
- In-service candidates: Government employees must attach a No Objection Certificate from their department, or their application is rejected.
- Examination expenses: Candidates must appear for the PST, PET and written exam at their own expense; no TA/DA is provided.
Application Submission Notes
Applications are online only, through the designated Ladakh Police recruitment portal. The written exam, PST and PET will be held at Leh and Kargil centres — pick your preferred centre carefully in the form, since changes are not allowed once the application window closes.
