Indian Institute of Information Technology Bhagalpur (IIIT Bhagalpur), an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, is building a pool of Professor of Practice and Adjunct Faculty experts at its Sabour campus in Bihar. The rolling drive supports the institute's B.Tech, M.Tech and Ph.D. programmes and brings experienced professionals into teaching, applied research and industry-facing academic work. The standout feature is the two-track format: accomplished practitioners can enter academia through the Professor of Practice route, while retired senior teachers can contribute as Adjunct Faculty.

The institute works in a public-private partnership model and focuses on information technology and allied engineering areas. Through this engagement, your professional or academic experience is expected to add practice-based learning to regular classroom teaching. The Professor of Practice route follows the National Education Policy and University Grants Commission framework, with an emphasis on industry links, innovation and work-ready skills.

Posts and Disciplines

• Professor of Practice: suited to distinguished professionals from engineering, technology, entrepreneurship and small green-energy systems who can turn field experience into courses, mentoring and institutional projects.
• Adjunct Faculty: intended for retired senior faculty from government institutions and comparable publicly funded institutes who can support teaching, sponsored research and consultancy alongside regular faculty.
• Computer Science and Engineering: areas include cyber and information security, blockchain, computer graphics, artificial intelligence, machine learning and image processing.
• Electronics and Communication Engineering: areas include communication systems, RF and microwave engineering, signal processing, microelectronics and VLSI.
• Mechatronics and Automation Engineering: areas include electric vehicles, robotics, automation, instrumentation, manufacturing, CAD/CAM and machine design.
• Mathematics and Computing: areas include analysis, topology, number theory, numerical linear algebra and partial differential equations.

Post-wise Duties

Professor of Practice

You will help design practice-oriented courses and curriculum, teach new or existing courses, mentor student innovation and entrepreneurship, and strengthen industry-academia links. You may also work with regular faculty on research, consultancy, workshops, boot camps, professional lectures and skill-based partnership programmes.

Adjunct Faculty

You will contribute to sponsored research and consultancy with regular IIIT Bhagalpur faculty and support the institute's academic work. You will share laboratory space and work in association with an institute faculty member rather than act as the sole project investigator or sole student supervisor.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Temporary engagement: These roles do not create a claim to a regular IIIT Bhagalpur appointment.
• Professor of Practice tenure: The full-time engagement is assessed annually and may continue within the tenure and age conditions stated in the notice.
• Adjunct Faculty tenure: The initial term may be extended based on performance and the institute's need, subject to the overall limit in the advertisement.
• Funding routes: A Professor of Practice may be industry-funded, institute-funded or honorary, so service and payment arrangements depend on the category of engagement.
• Interview travel: The institute will not pay TA or DA for attending the interaction.
• Accommodation: Campus housing may be offered under institute rules when it is available.
