Berhampur University is hiring 1 Project Assistant for a research project on molecular profiling and conservation of the threatened medicinal plant Stemona tuberosa. The position is in the P.G. Department of Biotechnology under MRIP-2025, funded by the Odisha State Higher Education Council (OSHEC). You will get a consolidated fellowship of Rs. 12,000 per month for up to 2 years. The P.G. Department of Biotechnology at Berhampur University, Bhanja Bihar, Berhampur (Odisha) is conducting a walk-in interview for the post of Project Assistant under the extramural research project titled "Molecular Profiling and In vitro Conservation of Stemona tuberosa Lour., a Threatened Medicinal Plant of Odisha". The project is led by Principal Investigator Prof. Manoj Kumar Panda and funded under MRIP-2025 by OSHEC, Government of Odisha. If you have an M.Sc. in Biotechnology, Botany, or Life Sciences with at least 55% marks, this is a great chance to work on plant tissue culture and molecular biology research.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in molecular profiling work on Stemona tuberosa, a threatened medicinal plant of Odisha.
  • Perform plant tissue culture experiments for in vitro conservation of the species.
  • Handle DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, and other molecular biology lab work under PI supervision.
  • Maintain aseptic conditions in the tissue culture laboratory and prepare culture media.
  • Keep detailed lab notebooks, record experimental observations, and manage plant samples.
  • Assist in data analysis, literature review, and preparing research reports.
  • Follow lab safety protocols and handle chemicals, reagents, and equipment carefully.
  • Support the Principal Investigator with routine project work and documentation.

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

M.Sc. in Biotechnology / Botany / Life Sciences or any other allied subject with minimum 55% marks from a recognized university

Preferred Qualification

Hands-on experience in Molecular Biology and Plant Tissue Culture techniques
