Berhampur University (BU) Research Assistant Recruitment 2026 - 2 Posts

Berhampur University (BU) has released Advertisement No. BU/CoEBESO/2026/71 dated 07 July 2026 for 2 Research Assistant posts at the Centre of Excellence on Bioprospecting of Ethno-pharmaceuticals of Southern Odisha (CoEBESO). This centre is sponsored by OSHEC, Department of Higher Education, Government of Odisha, and studies how plant-based compounds found in southern Odisha can help fight cancer, infectious diseases, and autoimmune disorders. Berhampur University itself was set up in 1967 at Bhanja Vihar in Ganjam district, and its academic jurisdiction covers seven districts of southern Odisha with more than 180 affiliated colleges — so this is a chance to do research work at one of the region's oldest and largest universities. Note that this is a temporary, project-linked position co-terminus with the CoEBESO project tenure, so the selected candidates will not become permanent university employees.

Traditional medicinal knowledge from the tribal and rural communities of southern Odisha is being scientifically studied here to discover new leads against cancer, infections, and autoimmune conditions. As a Research Assistant, you would work closely with the CoEBESO team on lab techniques, sample analysis, and academic documentation — good exposure if you are considering a research career or a Ph.D. later.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: M.Sc. in Biotechnology, Biosciences, Life Sciences, Biochemistry, Botany, or Chemistry with at least 55% marks in aggregate from a recognized university.
• Preferred: Research experience in Plant Tissue Culture, Animal Cell Culture, Molecular Biology & Genomics, or Phytochemical Analysis will count in your favour.

Age Limit

• You must be less than 30 years old as on the date of advertisement (07 July 2026).

Salary

• Selected candidates will get a consolidated monthly fellowship of Rs. 20,000.
• The tenure is for one year initially and may be extended based on your performance and the project's progress, as per OSHEC/OHEPEE guidelines.
• No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in 2 stages (No Written Exam):

2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will get a call letter through email. No TA/DA is paid for the interview.
