Berhampur University is hiring 1 Junior Research Fellow (JRF) / Project Associate-I in the P.G. Department of Botany under an ANRF (SERB-SURE) research project funded by DST, Government of India. If you have an M.Sc in Botany, Life Science, Bioscience, Marine Biology, Biotechnology, Microbiology or allied biological sciences, you can attend the walk-in interview. The walk-in is on 20 May 2026 at 11:30 AM. The stipend is Rs. 37,000 per month + 9% HRA for NET/GATE qualified candidates, and Rs. 30,000 + 9% HRA for others.
Berhampur University Botany JRF and Project Associate Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post
Berhampur University, Bhanja Bihar, Berhampur has released a walk-in notification (No. 05/BOT/SERB-SURE-MJ/BU/2026 dated 13 May 2026) for 1 position of JRF or Project Associate-I. The post is for the research project titled "Unraveling the autophagy-inducing potential of Ulvan from Ulva compressa to inhibit oral carcinogenesis via autophagic degradation of NRF2 to induce programmed and regulated cell death modalities." The Principal Investigator is Dr. Mrutyunjay Jena. This is a walk-in-interview based selection — no written exam. Freshers with M.Sc and NET/GATE qualified candidates are welcome.

Who Can Apply?
Essential Qualification
- You must have an M.Sc in Botany, Life Science, Bioscience, Marine Biology, Biotechnology, Microbiology or any allied biological sciences
- You need a minimum of 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA on a 10-point scale
- You should have qualified CSIR-UGC-NET (Assistant Professorship) / CSIR-UGC-NET (Category-III) or GATE for the JRF position
Selection Path Based on Qualification
- Candidates with CSIR-UGC-NET / GATE will be selected for Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
- Candidates without NET/GATE will be selected for Project Associate-I
Salary / Fellowship
- JRF (with CSIR-UGC-NET / GATE): Rs. 37,000 per month + 9% HRA
- Project Associate-I (without NET/GATE): Rs. 30,000 per month + 9% HRA
- The fellowship is paid as per ANRF (SERB-SURE) project norms

Responsibilities
- Carry out research work on autophagy-inducing potential of Ulvan from Ulva compressa
- Perform laboratory experiments related to oral carcinogenesis and NRF2 autophagic degradation
- Maintain detailed records of experiments, observations and results
- Prepare progress reports and contribute to research publications
- Assist the Principal Investigator with day-to-day project activities
- Handle laboratory equipment and chemicals as per safety protocols
- Present research findings in lab meetings and contribute to manuscript writing
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
M.Sc in Botany / Life Science / Bioscience / Marine Biology / Biotechnology / Microbiology or any allied biological sciences with minimum 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA on 10-point scale
Preferred Qualification
CSIR-UGC-NET (Assistant Professorship) / CSIR-UGC-NET (Category-III) or GATE qualification for JRF position
Required Skills
