All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Raebareli (AIIMS Raebareli), an apex hospital set up by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare under PMSSY, has released advertisement No. AIIMS/RBL/REC/SR/2026/316 to fill 153 Senior Resident (Non-Academic) posts for a period of one year. The same notification also offers 11 Post Doctoral Fellowship (PDF) course seats in Anesthesia & Critical Care, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry. There is no separate entrance test for the PDF courses — admission is based on your merit in the Senior Resident written exam.

Who Can Apply?

  • Basic Qualification: A medical (MBBS) qualification recognised under the Indian Medical Council Act 1956.
  • Registration: You must be registered with the Central or a State Medical Council.
  • For Broad Speciality SR posts: MD/MS/DNB in the concerned speciality or its equivalent.
  • For Super Speciality SR posts: MD/MS/DNB in the related broad speciality, or DM/M.Ch/DNB in the concerned super speciality.
  • For Pathology posts: MD Pathology or MD Lab Medicine.

Age Limit

  • Maximum age: 45 years.
  • SC/ST: 5 years relaxation. OBC: 3 years relaxation.
  • Persons with Disability (OPH): up to 10 years (General), 13 years (OBC) and 15 years (SC/ST).
  • No age relaxation is given to SC/ST/OBC candidates who apply against unreserved seats.

Salary

  • You will get pay in Pay Matrix Level-11 with a minimum of Rs. 67,700 per month.
  • Plus NPA (Non-Practicing Allowance) for medical personnel.
  • Plus DA and other allowances as per Government of India rules.

Selection Process

The selection of Senior Residents is based on two parts:

  2. Departmental Assessment: carries 20% weightage.

  4. Medical Fitness: the final appointment is subject to a medical fitness check by the Institute Medical Board.

Your final merit is decided by combining the written exam (80%) and departmental assessment (20%).

  • Handle ward rounds, admissions and day-to-day patient management
  • Assist senior faculty during surgeries, procedures and emergencies

  • Maintain accurate case records and treatment notes
  • Guide junior residents and interns in their clinical work
  • Take part in academic activities, case discussions and departmental teaching
