AIIMS Delhi Junior Resident Recruitment 2026: Overview

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi has opened a special recruitment drive for Junior Residents. These are posts from the July 2026 session that are still empty, and they are being filled only for the rest of the term, up to 31 December 2026. So this is a short, fixed-tenure residency, not a full session.

Selection is by counselling on a merit list built from your INI-CET (July 2026) rank and your MBBS aggregate percentage, or the FMGE score if you studied abroad. Indian citizens, including OCI and PIO card holders, can apply. It suits a recent MBBS graduate who wants a few months of hands-on work in a busy AIIMS department, especially at the trauma centre.

Posts and Disciplines

The posts are spread across the main hospital, the Jai Prakash Narayan Apex Trauma Centre (JPNATC) and the National Centre for Ageing (NCA):

• Emergency Medicine: the biggest share of posts, split between the main hospital emergency and the JPNATC emergency.
• Trauma Centre (JPNATC) units: Surgery, Neurosurgery, Orthopaedics and Transfusion Medicine.
• National Centre for Ageing (NCA): Geriatric Medicine and Orthopaedics.
• Surgical specialities: Plastic, Reconstructive and Burns Surgery.
• Medical specialities: Cardiology, Nephrology, Neurology and Rheumatology.
• Paediatrics (Casualty): posts in the children's casualty service.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• MBBS window: You must have finished MBBS, including internship, between 1 November 2023 and 31 October 2026. Older graduates are not considered.
• Registration: A permanent DMC or State Medical Council registration is compulsory when you join.
• PwBD quota: 4% horizontal reservation for persons with benchmark disabilities within each category; a Medical Board will confirm eligibility.
• OBC (NCL) and EWS certificates: They must be based on income for FY 2025-26 and issued between 1 April 2026 and the closing date, in the Government of India format.
• Provisional seats: The number of posts in each category may change at the time of selection without notice.
• Documents kept: AIIMS keeps your original MBBS degree and registration certificate until your tenure ends or you resign with all no-dues cleared.
• No-show penalty: If you are allotted a post in counselling but do not join, you must pay one month's salary to get your documents back. No extension is given for joining.
• Resigning: One month's notice is needed (15 days in December); any shortfall is treated as a penalty.
• Other terms: Everything else follows the July 2026 Junior Resident advertisement.

Only the physical form is accepted. Download the application form from aiimsexams.ac.in, fill it, and hand it in with your documents at the Academic Section-II, AIIMS, Ansari Nagar, New Delhi by 5:00 PM on the last day.

Watch your email closely. AIIMS will not send any separate intimation for counselling through any other medium, and late or incomplete forms are rejected.
