VECC Principal Project Associate Recruitment 2026: Overview

Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre (VECC), a Department of Atomic Energy centre in Kolkata, is engaging a Principal Project Associate for its GRID Computing Facility. The work sits at the meeting point of scientific computing and research infrastructure, covering clusters, networks, heterogeneous computing and the software that keeps those systems available to researchers. This is a project-based technical role, so it suits an experienced computer science professional who has already worked in research, academic or science-and-technology environments.

The appointment is tied to the GRID project at VECC, Kolkata and does not create a route to regular absorption in the Centre or another Department of Atomic Energy unit. You will work with specialised computing resources and technical documentation rather than a general office-IT setup. Hands-on depth in cluster computing is the central theme of the role, supported by networking, scripting and scientific writing experience.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Project tenure: The initial engagement is for two years and may be extended for up to two more years after performance reviews and according to functional need. The term may also be shortened after an evaluation.
• Temporary status: The position is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project. Selection gives you no claim to regular appointment or absorption at VECC.
• Confidentiality: You must sign the prescribed oath of secrecy and protect information obtained through the assignment. Publication, broadcasting or outside use of project information needs prior VECC approval.
• Conduct: The engagement is subject to the Official Secrets Act, and you cannot represent VECC or give advice that conflicts with the Centre's interests.
• Ending the engagement: VECC may cancel the appointment, while the normal arrangement provides one month's notice. You may also leave by giving one month's notice.
• Interview: The interview is held offline in Kolkata, and no TA or DA is paid for attending it.
• Jurisdiction: Any legal dispute connected with the notification falls under Kolkata jurisdiction.
