Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) is looking for 1 Signal & Telecommunication (S&T) officer at the level of General Manager or Additional General Manager, on a deputation basis, posted at Kolkata. Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) GM/AGM (S&T) Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

RVNL is a Navratna public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Railways, responsible for executing major rail infrastructure projects such as new lines, doubling, electrification, and metro corridors across India. Through Vacancy Notice No. 2026/RVNL/43-S&T issued on 20 July 2026, RVNL is inviting applications for 1 senior S&T post at Kolkata, for a deputation period of 5 years, subject to government approval for RVNL's exemption from the rule of immediate absorption. Preference will be given to officers with experience of working in a construction organization, since the role involves overseeing signalling and telecommunication works for railway infrastructure projects.

If you haven't applied for a government job on deputation before, here is how it works: you remain an employee of your parent department, but you work for RVNL for the deputation period, drawing your parent pay plus a deputation allowance. At the end of the tenure you can return to your parent organization, or in some cases seek an extension, depending on the rules in force at that time. RVNL commonly uses this route to bring in experienced Group A engineering officers from Indian Railways and other CPSEs without going through open-market recruitment.

Who Can Apply?

The IRSSE (Indian Railway Service of Signal Engineers) is the Group A engineering service responsible for signal and telecommunication systems on Indian Railways, and officers from this cadre form the core eligible pool for this post.

For General Manager (S&T) - Level-14 (CDA) / IDA E-8 (Rs. 1,20,000-2,80,000):

• You should be holding a post in an analogous CDA/IDA grade, or
• Be in Level-13 (CDA) with at least 17 years of service in Group A, or
• Hold a post in IDA E-7 grade (Rs. 1,00,000-2,60,000) for at least 4 years.

For Additional General Manager (S&T) - Level 13-A (CDA) / IDA E-7 (Rs. 1,00,000-2,60,000):

• You should be holding a post in an analogous CDA/IDA grade, or
• Be in Level-13 (CDA) with 12-14 years of service in Group A, or
• Hold a post in IDA E-6 grade (Rs. 90,000-2,40,000) for at least 4 years.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience of working in a construction organization. This recruitment is open only from the IRSSE cadre / S&T department and is limited to eligible serving officers applying on deputation - it is not open to fresh graduates.

Age Limit

• For General Manager: you should be below 58 years of age as on the closing date of the vacancy notice.
• For Additional General Manager: you should be below 56 years of age as on the closing date of the vacancy notice, i.e. 18 August 2026.

Salary

• Selected officers will draw their parent pay plus deputation allowance, which works out to approximately Rs. 1,00,000 to Rs. 2,80,000 per month depending on the grade (Level 13-A to Level-14 CDA / IDA E-7 to E-8).
• You will also get deputation allowance and other benefits as admissible under the applicable deputation rules.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written exam for this recruitment. RVNL will select the officer as follows:

1. Application Screening: Your application, forwarded through proper channel along with vigilance/DAR clearance (confirming you are not facing any disciplinary or vigilance case) and your last 5 years' APAR grading (your annual performance appraisal record), will be checked against the eligibility criteria.
2. Selection: The eligible officer found most suitable will be considered for appointment based on RVNL's organizational requirement.

Since RVNL's project portfolio spans new lines, doubling, gauge conversion, electrification, and metro corridors across India, the selected officer will be responsible for signal and telecom planning across multiple ongoing projects in the Kolkata region.
