Mizoram University (MZU), a Central University at Aizawl established by an Act of Parliament, has released Guest Faculty Advertisement No. 5 of 2026 for engagement on a per-lecture basis across its departments. The requirement spans 26 university departments such as English, Education, Geology, Commerce, Management and various Engineering branches, plus the School of Engineering & Technology and the Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP). These are tentative, anticipated vacancies — actual engagement depends on the university's requirement from time to time, and interviews may be called at short notice, so keep checking the MZU website regularly.

Vacancy Breakdown by Department

Guest Faculty posts are open across 26 departments of Mizoram University, the School of Engineering & Technology, and the Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP). Departments with the highest tentative requirement are:

• School of Education: 4 posts
• Geography & Resource Management, Clinical Psychology, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Information Technology: 3 posts each
• English & Culture Studies, Education, Psychology, Library & Information Science, Management, Tourism & Hospitality Management, Industrial Chemistry, Planning & Architecture, Food Technology, Electrical Engineering: 2 posts each
• Geology, Petroleum Exploration, Forestry, History & Ethnography, Public Administration, Economics, Commerce, Mass Communication, Botany, Civil Engineering, Political Science, Computer Engineering: 1 post each

Total tentative requirement: 77 posts. This is based on anticipated need, and actual engagement will depend on the University's requirement from time to time.

Who Can Apply?

For Engineering & Technology Disciplines:

• B.E./B.Tech/B.S. and M.E./M.Tech/M.S. (or Integrated M.Tech) in the relevant branch, with first class in at least one degree.
• A Ph.D. after your Bachelor's degree from an institute of national importance with GATE/GPAT/CEED is also accepted.

For Commerce, Sciences, Languages and Library Sciences:

• Master's degree with 55% marks in the relevant/allied subject from a recognized university, plus NET/SLET/SET.
• Ph.D. holders (as per UGC 2009/2016 regulations) are exempted from NET/SLET/SET, subject to conditions.
• A Ph.D. from a foreign university ranked in the top 500 (QS/THE/ARWU) is also accepted.

For Clinical Psychology:

• 2 years M.Phil in Clinical Psychology with a valid RCI-CRR registration as Clinical Psychologist.

For Education & ITEP:

• Department of Education: M.A. (Education) with NET.
• School of Education: M.A. (Education) with B.Ed and NET, or a Master's degree in Arts/Science with M.Ed and NET in Education.
• ITEP: PG degree in Sciences, Maths, Social Science, Languages or Commerce with 55% marks, plus B.Ed with 55% marks, plus NET/SLET/Ph.D. in Education.

Salary

• Guest Faculty are paid Rs. 1,500 per lecture, subject to a maximum of Rs. 50,000 per month for UGC Guest Faculty.
• Your prior teaching/research/professional experience will only count for screening if it was paid at least Rs. 25,000 per month, backed by a proper experience certificate.
• Any revision in the honorarium rate will apply only after a decision by the University.

Selection Process

There is no fixed written exam. Selection is based on:

1. Application Scrutiny: Your application and documents will be checked against the eligibility criteria for your department.
2. Interview (if scheduled): Interviews may be called at short notice depending on the University's actual requirement.

The crucial date for reckoning your qualifications and experience is the last date of application (22 July 2026). Canvassing directly or indirectly at any stage will lead to disqualification.

5. Apply separately for each department if you want to be considered for more than one.
