About This Job
Apply for MZU Mental Health Professional posts. PG or specialist medical qualification eligible. Walk-in: 11 Sep 2026 at mzu.edu.in.
MZU Mental Health Professionals Recruitment 2026: Overview
Mizoram University (MZU) is engaging mental health professionals for its Mental Health and Well-Being Centre at the Aizawl campus. The centre is bringing together psychology, clinical psychology and psychiatry support so students and other members of the university community can reach the right level of care in one place. This is a temporary, service-focused engagement rather than a regular university appointment.
The work ranges from everyday psychological support to specialist clinical assessment and medical psychiatric consultation. That makes the notice useful for professionals at different stages: a postgraduate psychologist can support the centre on working days, while licensed clinical and medical specialists can contribute through scheduled visits. Your role will depend on the professional qualification and registration attached to the post you choose.
The university is using a walk-in interview, so there is no separate online application portal. You should read the notice carefully, choose the role that matches your credentials and be ready to explain your practical approach to mental-health care. Original professional records and an updated CV will help the panel check your background at the venue.
Posts and Disciplines
- Psychologist: regular working-day support for the centre, with a focus on counselling, early identification of concerns and suitable referrals.
- Clinical Psychologist: specialist sessions for psychological assessment and evidence-based clinical support; a valid CRE credential is tied to this role.
- Psychiatrist: periodic medical consultations for cases that need diagnosis, treatment planning or medicine-related review.
Post-wise Duties
Psychologist
You will offer first-line psychological support, conduct counselling sessions and help the centre identify people who need specialist attention. You may also keep confidential case notes and coordinate referrals within the centre.
Clinical Psychologist
You will handle clinical assessment and structured intervention for more complex concerns. Your work may include psychological testing, case formulation, therapy planning and professional guidance for follow-up care.
Psychiatrist
You will provide medical psychiatric evaluation, advise on treatment and review cases referred by the other professionals. You will also guide the team when a person needs urgent or continuing medical care.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Engagement status: Every appointment is purely temporary and does not create a claim to a permanent university post.
- Work pattern: The Psychologist is available on working days, while the Clinical Psychologist and Psychiatrist attend on scheduled visits.
- Specialist credential: The Clinical Psychologist must hold the registration stated in the notice when appearing before the panel.
- University discretion: MZU may change or cancel the engagement process without giving a reason.
Application Submission Notes
Report to the Dean's Office, School of Medical and Paramedical Sciences, Mizoram University by 10:30 AM; the interview begins at 11:00 AM. There is no online form, so bring the application records listed in the notice and allow enough time for verification before the panel meets you.
Responsibilities
- Provide counselling and psychological support to people using the centre
- Assess mental-health concerns and record clear confidential case notes
- Plan suitable psychological or psychiatric interventions for each case
- Coordinate referrals between psychologists, clinical specialists and medical services
- Monitor progress and adjust care plans during follow-up visits
- Guide the centre on urgent cases and safe escalation of care
