Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN) is engaging a Postdoctoral Fellow in its Computer Science and Engineering department for a MeitY-sponsored project on Quantum Machine Learning. Led by Prof. Sameer Kulkarni, the project aims to create new algorithms and models for intrusion, spam and malware detection. The role sits at the meeting point of quantum-computing research and deployable cybersecurity systems, so it offers a defined applied problem rather than an open-ended postdoctoral theme.

This is a senior research assignment for someone who can move from problem formulation to implementation and publication with limited hand-holding. The project environment may include conventional machine-learning frameworks, quantum software stacks, data pipelines, databases and cloud or local deployment. Your doctoral work or prior research should connect meaningfully with the project because the fellow will help shape technical choices, guide experiments and turn results into clear research outputs. Experience with both coding and academic writing is central to the work described in the notice.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Fixed-term engagement: The appointment is for the sponsored project and ends at the earlier limit stated in the notice; it is not a regular IITGN faculty or staff appointment.
• Funding framework: The position follows the funding agency's norms, which govern the fellowship arrangement and project-linked nature of the work.
• Research alignment: The institute expects your doctoral or equivalent research record to align with the project's Quantum Machine Learning and cybersecurity direction.
• Publication record: At least one SCI journal paper forms part of the essential research profile described for this role.
• Shortlisting threshold: Meeting the stated baseline does not assure a call. A higher cutoff may be used when necessary to narrow the pool.
• Institute discretion: IITGN may decide not to conduct a selection test, not to call an applicant or not to fill the post during this round.
• Research workflow: You should expect repeated cycles of implementation, evaluation and revision. The fellow will need to question weak results, choose fair baselines and leave behind reproducible code and experiment records that the wider project team can inspect and extend.
