IIT BHU JRF CSE Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) Varanasi is hiring Junior Research Fellows through its Department of Computer Science and Engineering for a Department of Science and Technology-sponsored National Quantum Mission project. The work belongs to the Qu-GEN project, which is building a versatile quanvolutional neural-network library for improved image analysis on quantum computers. This is a focused computer-science research opportunity that connects deep learning, optimisation and quantum software rather than a general programming assignment. It suits engineers who want to work on an emerging area where conventional machine learning meets quantum computation.

The project is sanctioned for three years, giving the research team time to move from algorithm design to library development, experiments and analysis. You would work with the principal investigator, Dr. Aparajita Khan, and contribute to a research problem with a clear software and applied-AI direction. GATE or NET qualification is central to the advertised profile, while practical exposure to deep-learning code and quantum libraries will help you contribute sooner.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Project appointment: The role is purely temporary and ends with the Qu-GEN project; it does not create a right to a regular IIT BHU position.
  • Initial tenure: The first appointment is for one year. Continuation in later years depends on your performance and the project remaining active.
  • Shortlisting: The principal investigator may limit interview calls when the applicant pool is large, so meeting the minimum criteria does not guarantee an interview.
  • Communication: Only shortlisted applicants will receive the interview intimation by email. Use an active email account and check it regularly.
  • Original records: Your original documents will be checked at the interview, even though the application package uses self-attested copies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop deep-learning and quanvolutional neural-network workflows for the Qu-GEN project
  • Write and test research code for quantum image-analysis experiments
  • Use quantum computing libraries such as Qiskit or PennyLane where the project needs them
  • Compare model performance and keep clear experiment records
  • Analyse results and prepare technical summaries for the principal investigator

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

M.E./M.Tech or B.E./B.Tech in CSE, IT, AI, ECE, EE or an allied branch with the prescribed marks/CPI and GATE/NET qualification.

Preferred Qualification

Coding experience in deep learning, understanding of deep learning and optimisation, and familiarity with Qiskit or PennyLane.

Required Skills

Deep-learning coding, optimisation concepts, research programming and familiarity with quantum computing tools.

Age Limit

18 - 28 years
