IIT BHU JRF Chemical Engineering Recruitment 2026: Overview

Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) Varanasi is recruiting a Junior Research Fellow in Chemical Engineering and Technology for a Ministry of Mines, Government of India sponsored project. The study focuses on a reagent-free, single-cell electrochemical route for sequential recovery of critical minerals from spent lithium-ion battery black mass. It also adds an India-specific life-cycle assessment, giving you a research setting that connects laboratory electrochemistry with resource recovery and environmental evaluation.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • Campus housing: HRA is provided according to institute rules only when accommodation inside the campus is not provided.
  • Interview format: The interview is planned in physical mode. An online interview may be considered only as a special case.
  • Travel support: IIT BHU will not pay TA or DA if you are called for the interview.
  • Reservation relief: Relaxation for women and applicable reserved or disability categories follows Government of India norms.

Responsibilities

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

M.Tech in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with CGPA/CPI 7.0 on a 10-point scale, or M.Sc in Chemistry or Physics with basic knowledge of electrochemistry

Preferred Qualification

Hands-on experience operating a potentiostat or galvanostat

Required Skills

Electrochemistry fundamentals, laboratory experimentation, electrochemical data recording and safe handling of research samples

Age Limit

18 - 28 years (as on 01 Sep 2026)
