Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Anganwadi Worker & Helper Recruitment 2026 - 6 Posts
The Office of the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), Poshan Project Trehgam, Kupwara, has released Advertisement No. 05 and 06 of 2026 for filling up Anganwadi Worker (Sangini) and Anganwadi Helper (Sahayika) vacancies in select Anganwadi Centres. These posts are engaged on an honorarium basis under the Government of Jammu and Kashmir. You must be a resident of the exact Panch ward where the Anganwadi Centre is located to apply for that post.

Who Can Apply?
Anganwadi Worker (Sangini)
- Qualification: Minimum 10+2 pass and maximum graduation. Candidates with a qualification higher than graduation are not considered.
- Gender: Only women candidates can apply.
- Domicile: You must be a domicile of the UT of J&K and a resident of the electoral ward where the Anganwadi Centre is located.
Anganwadi Helper (Sahayika)
- Qualification: Minimum Matriculation (10th pass). If no matriculate candidate is available in the ward, candidates with at least 8th standard are considered.
- Gender: Only women candidates can apply; married women are preferred. If no married candidate is available, an unmarried candidate may be considered.
- Domicile: You must be a domicile of the UT of J&K and a resident of the electoral ward where the Anganwadi Centre is located.
Age Limit
- You should be between 18 and 37 years old, calculated as on 1 January 2026.
Salary
- Both Anganwadi Worker and Anganwadi Helper posts are engaged on an honorarium basis as fixed by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir from time to time.
Selection Process (No Interview)
- Merit List: Selection for Anganwadi Worker is purely on academic merit based on the marks you scored in 10+2. There is no interview.
- Extra Weightage: If an eligible candidate is from the family of a retired Anganwadi Worker or Helper, she gets 2 additional percentage points.
- Tie-breaker: If two candidates have equal merit, the candidate with the higher age is preferred.
- Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates must produce all required certificates for verification.
For Anganwadi Helper posts, the committee selects the most needy or destitute married woman of the ward among those who meet the qualification.

- Fill in the prescribed application form (Annexure-I) given in the official notification.
- Attach all required documents, including the Panch Ward certificate, domicile certificate and academic mark sheets.
- Enclose a self-addressed envelope with a Rs. 5 postage stamp.
- Deposit the application in person at the Office of the Child Development Project Officer, Poshan Project Trehgam, against a proper receipt.

Responsibilities
- Run daily activities at the Anganwadi Centre under the Poshan (ICDS) scheme
- Provide supplementary nutrition to children, pregnant women and nursing mothers
- Organise pre-school education and early childhood care for young children
- Maintain records of nutrition, health and immunization for the ward
- Keep the Anganwadi Centre clean and help prepare and serve food
- Assist health staff during immunization drives and health check-ups
- Spread awareness about child health, nutrition and hygiene in the community
