ICDS Jammu and Kashmir is engaging 29 Anganwadi staff for the Anganwadi Centres of POSHAN Project Uri, Baramulla. This includes 7 Anganwadi Workers (Sanginis) and 22 Anganwadi Helpers (Sahayikas). Only women candidates who are domiciles of Jammu and Kashmir and residents of the concerned ward can apply. You need 10+2 for the Worker post and Matriculation (10th) for the Helper post. The Office of the Child Development Project Officer, POSHAN Project Uri (District Baramulla) has invited applications from eligible women candidates for the engagement of Sanginis (Anganwadi Workers) and Sahayikas (Anganwadi Helpers) in various Anganwadi Centres on an honorarium basis. Because the earlier notices got a poor response, the department has issued an extension notice giving candidates 10 more days to apply. All other terms and conditions of the original advertisement stay the same. This is a good local opportunity for women in the Uri area who want to serve their own community.

Vacancy Breakdown

  • Anganwadi Worker (Sangini): 7 posts across Anganwadi Centres in panchayats such as Isham, Thajal, Sultan Daki, Lachipora, Garkote and Muqampeeran.
  • Anganwadi Helper (Sahayika): 22 posts across Anganwadi Centres in panchayats such as Churranda, Garkote, Bugna, Zahanpora, Balkote, Choolan, Nambla, Sultandaki, Mohura, Kamalkot and others.

Who Can Apply?

Only women candidates who are domiciles of the UT of Jammu and Kashmir and residents of the electoral ward where the Anganwadi Centre is located (name in the voter list) can apply.

For Anganwadi Worker (Sangini):

  • Qualification: Minimum 10+2 (Senior Secondary) pass and maximum Graduation. Candidates with a qualification higher than graduation are not considered.
  • Selection is done on merit, with weightage given to the marks scored in 10+2.

For Anganwadi Helper (Sahayika):

  • Qualification: Minimum Matriculation (Class 10). If no matriculate candidate is available in the ward, a candidate with not less than 8th standard may be considered.
  • Preferably married women. The committee gives priority to the most needy/destitute women of the ward.

Candidates from the family of a retiring Anganwadi Worker/Helper get an additional 2% points.

Age Limit

  • You should be between 18 and 37 years old as on 1 January 2026.
  • Age is calculated on the first day of the calendar year.

Salary

  • Selected candidates are engaged on an honorarium basis as per the rules of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir.
  • The honorarium is paid monthly as fixed by the ICDS / POSHAN scheme for Anganwadi Workers and Helpers.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written exam. Selection is done purely on merit:

  1. Merit List: For the Worker post, candidates are ranked on the marks obtained in 10+2. For the Helper post, priority is given to needy/destitute married women who meet the qualification.
  2. Additional Points: Candidates from the family of a retiring Anganwadi Worker/Helper get 2% extra points. In case of a tie, the older candidate is preferred.
  3. Document Verification of residence, domicile, age and qualification.

How to Apply

  1. Collect the prescribed application form (Annexure-I) free of cost from the office of the Child Development Project Officer, POSHAN Project Uri.
  2. Fill in the form and attach all self-attested documents.
  3. Submit the application in person against a proper receipt at the office of the Child Development Project Officer, POSHAN Project Uri, near Toll Post Lagama.
  4. Apply within 10 days of the extension notice being published.

Responsibilities

  • Run the Anganwadi Centre and organise daily pre-school activities for young children
  • Provide supplementary nutrition to children, pregnant women and nursing mothers
  • Monitor the growth, weight and health of children at the centre
  • Keep proper records and registers of beneficiaries and services
  • Spread awareness about health, nutrition, immunisation and hygiene in the village
  • Help with cooking, serving meals and keeping the centre clean (Helper role)
  • Bring children to the centre and support the Anganwadi Worker in daily duties (Helper role)
