Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture & Technology (GBPUAT), Pantnagar, one of India's oldest and most respected agricultural universities, has released Employment Notice No. A-01/2026 to fill 1 post of Chair Professor under the Dr. Ambedkar Chair, a scheme instituted by the Dr. Ambedkar Foundation, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India. This chair carries forward Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's philosophy of social justice and equality through research and teaching in agriculture and allied sciences at the university. The position is on a deputation basis for 5 years (counted from the date of the MoU, 15 October 2025), co-terminus with the currency of the scheme, and is best suited to senior academicians with a strong research record who are passionate about advancing social justice through their work. Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You need a Ph.D. degree in a relevant discipline of Agriculture & Allied Sciences from a recognized university, with published work of high quality and active engagement in research.
• Research Record: You must have at least 10 research publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals, with a total research score of 120 as per UGC norms (Appendix II, Table 2).
• Experience: You need a minimum of 10 years of teaching experience as Assistant Professor / Associate Professor / Professor in a university or college, or equivalent research experience at a university/national level institution, along with evidence of successfully guiding doctoral candidates.
• Desirable: Working knowledge of Dr. Ambedkar's thoughts and works, with a proven commitment to social justice, is an added advantage.
• In-service candidates must apply through proper channel with a No Objection Certificate from their present employer, along with a complete application and declaration.
• Time taken to acquire an M.Phil. or Ph.D. degree is not counted as teaching/research experience for this post.

Age Limit

• Your age should not exceed 60 years as on the last date of submission of the application (7 August 2026).

Salary

• The selected candidate will get a salary of Rs. 1,44,200 per month under Academic Level 14 of the UGC Pay Scale (July 2018 Regulations and University Rules), with the pay band extending up to Rs. 2,18,200.
• You will also get allowances as applicable under university rules, though no TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.
• Retirement benefits of the Chair Professor will not be a liability of GBPUAT and are governed instead by the Dr. Ambedkar Foundation Scheme.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

The selection will be done in the following stages:

1. Screening of Applications: Your qualifications and research score will be assessed against the scoring methodology available on the university website. Only shortlisted candidates will be called forward.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for a personal interview. You must produce original certificates at this stage for verification — self-attested photocopies alone are not enough at the interview stage.
3. Document Verification: Your age, educational qualification, employment record, and caste certificate (if applicable) will be checked against your original documents.
