SCTIMST Research Assistant Recruitment 2026: Overview

Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), Thiruvananthapuram, is hiring a Research Assistant on a temporary basis. SCTIMST is an Institution of National Importance under the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, and runs a super-speciality hospital for heart and brain disorders along with a public health wing.

The post is attached to an ICMR-funded project called Establishment of the Indian Stroke Clinical Trial Network Phase II (INSTRuCT Network Phase II), project code P-5449. It suits nurses and life-science postgraduates who have already worked on clinical trials and want to stay in stroke research. Selection is through a walk-in interview at the AMCHSS building, so there is no online form to fill.

Your day-to-day work will revolve around patients enrolled in the stroke trial: bringing eligible patients into the study, recording their details in the trial database, and keeping in touch with them for follow-up visits. Accuracy and patience with patients and families matter a lot in this kind of role.

The research team is looking for someone who is well organised, comfortable with basic computer applications, and has some hands-on experience with clinical study databases. These are listed as desirable skills, so mention them clearly in your bio-data if you have them.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Reserved vacancy: The post is an SC backlog vacancy. If no eligible SC candidate turns up, an eligible UR candidate will be considered.
• Tenure: Purely contractual, initially up to 31 March 2027 or until the project ends, whichever comes first.
• Qualification routes: Nursing graduates need two years of clinical trial or clinical research experience, or a diploma in Neuro or Cardiovascular and Thoracic Nursing. M.Sc holders in Biotechnology, Biochemistry or Clinical Research need one year of clinical trial or research experience.
• Screening test: If many candidates turn up, a qualifying written test will be held first, and only those who clear it go on to the interview. The test marks do not count in the final ranking.
• Age relaxation basis: The relaxation for experience in a Government Research Organisation follows ICMR Order No. 16/29/2023/Admin/E.Office No.157401 dated 18.10.2024, point (h).
