WCD Odisha Anganwadi Helper Recruitment 2026 - 6 Posts

The Women and Child Development Department, Government of Odisha, in association with the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) and Mission Shakti, has invited online applications for 6 Anganwadi Helper (AWH) vacancies at various Anganwadi Centres in Odisha. This is a women-only recruitment — only female candidates from the local area of the Anganwadi Centre can apply. The selection is purely based on merit, with no written exam involved.

Who Can Apply?

• Gender: Only women candidates can apply. This recruitment is exclusively for female applicants.
• Educational Qualification: You must have passed 12th class (Plus Two / Higher Secondary) from a recognised board.
• Language: You must have good reading and writing knowledge of the Odia language.
• Domicile: You must be a resident of the local area where the Anganwadi Centre is located (same ward / village / panchayat).
• Skills: You must be willing to cook and serve nutritious food to children and assist the Anganwadi Worker in daily activities.
• Note: Preference is given to candidates from SC, ST, OBC, widows, divorcees, destitute women, and women from BPL families as per Odisha Government rules.

Age Limit

• Minimum Age: 21 years
• Maximum Age: 35 years
• Age is calculated as on the first day of the application month.
• The Odisha Government Reservation rules do not directly apply, but reservation in terms of social category and BPL status is followed.

Salary

• Monthly Honorarium: Rs. 3,000 per month (as per ICDS Scheme of Government of Odisha)
• This is a contractual engagement, not a permanent government job. No claim can be made on revised pay or government service later.
• Additional incentives may be provided as per the Anganwadi Workers and Helpers welfare schemes of the Odisha Government from time to time.

Application Fee

• There is no application fee. The entire application process is completely free for all candidates.

Selection Process

Selection is purely merit-based — there is no written exam. The process is:

1. Online Application Submission: Eligible women candidates apply online with educational, residence and category proof.
2. Scrutiny of Applications: Applications are checked against eligibility criteria by the CDPO and ICDS office.
3. Merit List Preparation: A merit list is prepared based on 12th class percentage and other weightage given to widows, ST/SC, BPL, and PwD candidates as per Odisha rules.
4. Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates are called for original document verification at the CDPO office.
5. Final Engagement Order: The selected candidate is issued an engagement order by the District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) and joins the assigned Anganwadi Centre.

3. Login using your User ID and Password.
4. Select the Anganwadi Helper vacancy of your local area.
5. Fill in the online application form with personal, educational and category details.
6. Upload scanned copies of your 10th and 12th certificates, residence proof, caste certificate (if applicable), and a recent passport-size photograph.
7. Verify all details once and submit the application.
8. Download and take a printout of the submitted application for your future reference.

• Assist the Anganwadi Worker in the day-to-day running of the Anganwadi Centre
• Cook and serve hot, nutritious meals to children, pregnant women, and nursing mothers
• Bring children from nearby homes to the Anganwadi Centre and drop them back safely
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the Anganwadi Centre and its surroundings
• Help the Anganwadi Worker in maintaining attendance and health records of children
• Support immunisation drives, health check-ups, and nutrition awareness camps
• Take care of small children during pre-school activities and play sessions
• Assist in distribution of Take-Home Ration (THR) to beneficiaries under the ICDS Scheme
