About This Job

The District Women Empowerment Hub (DHEW), Salem is hiring 1 Gender Specialist-II and 1 IT Assistant on a contract basis. If you are below 35 years and have a PG in Social Work / Social Disciplines (for Gender Specialist) or a Graduation with computer/IT working knowledge (for IT Assistant) plus 3 years of relevant experience, you can apply. The District Women Empowerment Hub (DHEW) operates under the Social Welfare and Women Empowerment Department, Government of Tamil Nadu. It has been functioning in Salem district since November 2023 to implement central government schemes, monitor fund utilisation and track beneficiaries. Notice No. 309/2026 dated 12 May 2026 issued by the District Collector Dr. A. Arun Thamburaj IAS invites applications for 2 contract positions in the Salem hub. Only candidates from Salem district are eligible to apply.

Who Can Apply?

Gender Specialist-II (Rs. 21,000/month)

IT Assistant (Rs. 20,000/month)

  • Qualification: Graduation with working knowledge of Computers / IT
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in data management, process documentation and web-based reporting in government, NGO or IT-related state/district-level work
  • Domicile: Must be a resident of Salem district

Age Limit

  • Maximum age: 35 years for both posts
  • This applies to Gender Specialist-II and IT Assistant equally

Salary

  • Gender Specialist-II: Consolidated pay of Rs. 21,000 per month
  • IT Assistant: Consolidated pay of Rs. 20,000 per month
  • This is a contract-basis engagement under the District Women Empowerment Hub scheme

Selection Process

Selection is based on merit and document verification:

Responsibilities

  • Implement central government schemes for women empowerment at the district level
  • Monitor fund allocation, utilisation certificates and scheme outcomes for women-focused programmes
  • Track scheme beneficiaries and prepare progress reports for the District Collector and state authorities
  • Conduct gender-sensitive social work activities and community outreach (Gender Specialist)
  • Manage data, prepare process documentation and submit web-based reports (IT Assistant)
  • Coordinate with NGOs, panchayats and other government departments on women empowerment initiatives
  • Assist the District Women Empowerment Hub team in policy advocacy and case management
  • Maintain records, manage MIS systems and respond to information requests from higher authorities

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

PG in Social Work / Social Disciplines (Gender Specialist-II); Graduation with working knowledge of Computers / IT (IT Assistant)

Preferred Qualification

Experience in government or NGO sector working on women empowerment / gender issues; experience in data management and web-based reporting

Required Skills

Gender sensitivity, social work, community mobilisation, data management, MS Office, web-based reporting, English/Tamil communication
