Chandigarh Administration is hiring 14 Section Officers (SAS) on contract basis in the Finance Department. If you are a retired Accounts Functionary (S.O./A.A.O./AC(F&A)/DC(F&A)/Sr.AO) from Central/State Government, PSU or Autonomous Body and you have qualified the SAS/AAO exam, you can apply by email or speed post. Chandigarh Administration Finance Department Section Officer Recruitment 2026 - 14 Posts

The Finance Department of Chandigarh Administration has released an advertisement inviting applications from retired officers of Central Government / State Government / PSUs / Autonomous Bodies / Statutory Bodies for engagement as Section Officer (SAS) on contract basis. Selected officers will be deputed to various departments of Chandigarh Administration as well as Boards, Corporations, Autonomous Bodies and Societies in U.T., Chandigarh. There is no written exam — selection is based on a personal interview before a committee headed by the Finance Secretary.

Who Can Apply?

• Status: You must be a retired officer of Central Government / State Government / PSU / Autonomous Body / Statutory Body.
• Last post held: You must have retired from any post of Accounts Functionary, i.e. S.O. / A.A.O. / AC(F&A) / DC(F&A) / Sr.AO or equivalent.
• Qualifying exam: You must have qualified the SAS Exam (Punjab Government) or AAO Exam (CGA) or SSC or any other equivalent exam for recruitment as Accounts Functionary in the Central Government.

Age Limit

• Your age should not be more than 64 years as on the last date of receipt of applications.
• The initial engagement is up to 5 years after superannuation, with the term extended in 6-month blocks based on performance review.

Salary

• Pay is fixed as per Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance, Government of India Letter No. 3-25/2020-E.IIIA dated 09.12.2020 — i.e. Last Pay Drawn minus Pension.
• Retirees/pensioners from Boards or Corporations will be paid at 50% of last basic pay drawn before retirement.
• Transport Allowance is allowed at the rate applicable at the time of retirement (fixed during the term).
• No Increment, DA, HRA, CGHS, medical reimbursement or any other allowances will be paid.
• TDS will be deducted from the monthly remuneration.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

The selection is based on:

1. Scrutiny of Applications: All applications received will be scrutinised and shortlisted.
2. Personal Interview: Shortlisted applicants will be called for a personal interview at Chandigarh Secretariat before a Selection Committee headed by the Finance Secretary, with Secretary Personnel and Special Secretary Finance as members.
3. Document Verification: Selected candidates must provide Vigilance Certificate, Integrity Certificates from 2 references, and a Non-Disclosure Undertaking.

The Selection Committee will recommend a panel of suitable candidates from the applicants.

2. Fill in the prescribed application form with your personal details, educational qualifications, year of passing SAS/AAO/equivalent exam, and service details as Accounts Functionary.
3. Attach age proof, retirement orders, copy of PPO, and the signed Non-Disclosure Undertaking.
4. Mention your last pay drawn and category (UR/SC/OBC).
