Visvesvaraya Industrial & Technological Museum (VITM), Bengaluru, under the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), has released Advertisement No. 02/2026 for online applications to fill 12 vacancies across science museums and centres in Karnataka, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh. The selected candidates can be transferred to any NCSM Science Museum/Centre across India. Salaries range from Rs. 19,900 to Rs. 92,300 depending on the post and pay level. Who Can Apply?

Education Assistant 'A' (Pay Level 5)

• Bachelor's Degree in Science with Physics and any two of Chemistry, Mathematics, Electronics, Computer Science, Astronomy, Geology, Statistics, OR
• Bachelor's Degree in Science with Chemistry and any two of Zoology, Botany, Microbiology, Environmental Science, Bio-Technology, Molecular Biology

Junior Stenographer (Pay Level 4)

• Higher Secondary (12th Pass) or equivalent
• Shorthand speed of 80 w.p.m. with certificate from a Government recognised institution

Office Assistant Gr.III (Pay Level 2)

• Higher Secondary (12th Pass) or equivalent
• Typing speed of 35 w.p.m. in English or 30 w.p.m. in Hindi (10500 KDPH English / 9000 KDPH Hindi), in a 10-minute computer typing test, from a Government recognised institution

Technician 'A' — Fitter / Carpenter (Pay Level 2)

• SSC/Matriculation with ITI certificate in the relevant discipline (Fitter or Carpentry)
• One year experience after a 2-year ITI course, OR two years experience after a 1-year ITI course

Artist 'A' (Pay Level 2)

• Diploma/Certificate in Fine/Commercial Art of at least 2 years duration after SSLC
• One year experience after a 2-year diploma, OR two years experience after a 1-year diploma

Selection to reserved category posts will be based on the State of domicile of the candidate.

Age Limit

• Education Assistant 'A': Maximum 35 years (as on 15.06.2026)
• Junior Stenographer: Maximum 25 years (as on 15.06.2026)
• Office Assistant Gr.III: Maximum 25 years (as on 15.06.2026); relaxable for OBC as per GoI rules
• Technician 'A': Maximum 35 years (as on 15.06.2026); relaxable for reserved categories as per GoI rules
• Artist 'A': Maximum 35 years (as on 15.06.2026); relaxable for SC as per GoI rules
• Age relaxation also available for Ex-Servicemen and Persons with Disabilities as per GoI Office Memorandum No.15012/2/2010-Estt.(D) dated 27.03.2012.

Salary

• Education Assistant 'A' — Pay Level 5 (Rs. 29,200 - Rs. 92,300). Starting total approx: Rs. 61,240 at Bengaluru, Rs. 58,320 at Calicut, Rs. 52,520 at Tirupati, Rs. 55,440 at Kalaburagi.
• Junior Stenographer — Pay Level 4 (Rs. 25,500 - Rs. 81,100). Starting total approx: Rs. 54,210 at Bengaluru.
• Office Assistant Gr.III — Pay Level 2 (Rs. 19,900 - Rs. 63,200). Starting total approx: Rs. 39,970 at Bengaluru, Rs. 35,270 at Tirupati.
• Technician 'A' — Pay Level 2 (Rs. 19,900 - Rs. 63,200). Starting total approx: Rs. 39,970 at Bengaluru, Rs. 37,980 at Calicut, Rs. 35,270 at Tirupati.
• Artist 'A' — Pay Level 2 (Rs. 19,900 - Rs. 63,200). Starting total approx: Rs. 39,970 at Bengaluru.
• Plus DA, HRA, Transport allowance, Medical, LTC and other facilities as per NCSM rules. Pension under the New Pension Scheme (NPS).

Application Fee

• General / OBC / EWS: Rs. 885 per post (Rs. 750 + 18% GST of Rs. 135)
• Women candidates: No fee
• SC / ST / PwD / Ex-Servicemen: No fee
• Payment mode: Online only through SBI Collect Payment Portal (link provided at payment stage)
• Fee once paid is non-refundable. If applying for multiple posts, separate applications and separate fees are required.

Selection Process

Selection will be based on a Written Test and additional Skill/Typing Tests depending on the post. Detailed Scheme of Examination is available on the VITM Recruitment Portal for each post:

1. Written Test — at Bengaluru only (exact centre on the hall ticket)
2. Skill Test / Typing Test / Shorthand Test — as per post (mandatory for Junior Stenographer, Office Assistant Gr.III, Artist 'A', Technician 'A')
3. Document Verification — original certificates required

Mere possession of essential qualification does not entitle a candidate to be called for the Written/Skill Test. Detailed scheme of examination for each post is published on the VITM portal.

How to Apply

1. Go to the VITM Recruitment Portal at vismuseum.gov.in/recruitment.php.
2. Register with your full name (as per Class 10 certificate), email ID, mobile number and Aadhaar.
3. Log in with your registered email and password.
4. Fill in the online application form for the post(s) you want to apply for.
5. Upload self-attested scanned copies (JPEG/JPG, up to 250 KB) of certificates, mark sheets, photograph and signature.
6. Pay the application fee of Rs. 885 per post through SBI Collect (waived for women, SC/ST/PwD/ESM).
7. Submit the application after verifying the preview. Just paying the fee is not enough — you must click SUBMIT.
8. Apply for multiple posts using the same registration with separate applications and separate fees.

Applications submitted other than through the VITM online Recruitment Portal will not be considered. No hard copy needed by post.

• Education Assistant 'A': Conduct educational programmes, demonstrations and lectures inside and outside the museum, assist Curators and Education Officers in teaching aids, visitor research, publicity, public relations, and mobile science exhibitions
• Junior Stenographer: Handle stenographic services, typing, photocopying, sending/receiving emails and fax, maintain files and records, attend phone calls and assist superiors
• Office Assistant Gr.III: Handle typing, dispatch of daks, ticket issue, bill preparation, registers and ledgers, computer entries, purchase and store handling, cash and cheque writing
• Technician 'A' (Fitter/Carpenter): Operate, repair, fabricate, handle, pack, install and maintain museum exhibits, equipment and instruments
• Artist 'A': Do lettering, painting, screen printing, handle exhibition material, assist in art layout and model making, or shoot/edit video, maintain video equipment and process photographs
