CSIR-NPL is hiring 20 Technician (Group-II) posts at the National Physical Laboratory in New Delhi. If you have passed 10th class with Science (55% marks) and hold an ITI certificate in the relevant trade, you can apply by post. The last date to send your application is 30 June 2026. CSIR - National Physical Laboratory (CSIR-NPL), New Delhi has released Advertisement No. Rectt./02/2026 for 20 Technician (Group-II) posts across 6 different trades. Out of 20 posts, 2 posts are reserved for PwBD candidates. CSIR-NPL is the National Metrology Institute (NMI) of India and works on quantum metrology, electronic materials, nanotechnology and other advanced science areas. Freshers with ITI or apprentice training can apply.

Who Can Apply?
Educational Qualification (for all trades):
- SSC / 10th Standard or equivalent with Science subjects and minimum 55% marks
- PLUS one of the following:
- ITI certificate or National/State Trade certificate in the relevant trade, OR
- 2 years full-time experience as an apprentice trainee in the relevant trade, OR
- 3 years work experience in the relevant trade in a Government / PSU / Autonomous Body
Trade-Specific Requirements:
- T2-01: Electronics Mechanic / Electronics trade
- T2-02: Electrician trade
- T2-03: Computer Operator & Programming Assistant (COPA) trade
- T2-04: Multimedia, Animation and Special Effects trade
- T2-05: Digital Photographer / Photographer trade
- T2-06: Mechanic Motor Vehicle trade
Other Conditions:
- You must be a citizen of India
- Government employees must apply through proper channel from their employer
Age Limit
- Minimum age: 18 years
- Maximum age: 28 years (as on 30 June 2026)
- Age Relaxation: SC/ST — 5 years; OBC (NCL) — 3 years (only for reserved posts)
- PwBD: 10 years (UR), 15 years (SC/ST), 13 years (OBC)
- Ex-Servicemen: 3 years after deducting military service
- Government employees: Up to 5 years extra (with 3 years continuous service)
Salary
- Pay Scale: Level-02 of 7th CPC Pay Matrix (Rs. 19,900 - Rs. 63,200)
- Basic Pay: Rs. 19,900 per month
- Total Emoluments at minimum scale: Rs. 44,428 per month (including HRA in Class 'X' city)
- Plus DA, TA, and other allowances as per CSIR rules
- Medical reimbursement, LTC, and House Building Advance also available

Selection Process
Selection happens in two stages:
- Trade Test (Qualifying): Eligible candidates are first called for a Trade Test in the relevant trade. This stage is only qualifying in nature.
- Competitive Written Examination: Candidates who clear the Trade Test then take a 3-paper written exam:
- Paper-I (Qualifying, 1 hour): Mental Ability Test — 50 questions, 100 marks, no negative marking
- Paper-II (30 minutes): General Awareness (25 Qs, 75 marks) and English Language (25 Qs, 75 marks) — 1 negative mark per wrong answer
- Paper-III (1 hour): Concerned Subject — 50 questions, 150 marks — 1 negative mark per wrong answer
Final merit list is based on Paper-II and Paper-III marks only. Paper-I is qualifying. Exam mode is OMR or Computer Based, in English and Hindi (except English Language section).

Responsibilities
- Assist the Scientific and Technical Staff with day-to-day laboratory work
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments in the assigned trade
- Handle routine measurements, calibrations, and recording of test data
- Maintain laboratory logs, registers, and inventory of consumables
- Support research projects by setting up experimental arrangements
- Follow safety protocols and standard operating procedures in the lab
- Help with installation, repair, and routine servicing of trade-specific equipment
- Report faults and maintenance needs to the supervising scientific officer
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
10th Pass with Science (55% marks) + ITI certificate in relevant trade OR 2 years apprentice training OR 3 years experience
Preferred Qualification
ITI certificate in the relevant trade from a recognized institution
Required Skills
Knowledge of trade-specific tools and equipment, basic laboratory practices, ability to follow safety protocols, attention to detail

Paper-I (1 hour) — Qualifying

- Covers General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning, Problem Solving, Situational Judgement
Paper-II (30 minutes)
- General Awareness: 25 questions, 75 marks (3 marks per correct answer)
- English Language: 25 questions, 75 marks (3 marks per correct answer)
- Negative Marking: 1 mark deducted per wrong answer
Paper-III (1 hour)
- Concerned Subject: 50 questions, 150 marks (3 marks per correct answer)
- Negative Marking: 1 mark deducted per wrong answer
Paper-I is qualifying only. Final merit list is prepared based on combined marks of Paper-II and Paper-III.
