Uttarakhand Public Service Commission (UKPSC) has announced recruitment for the post of Chief Fire Officer (Mukhya Agnishaman Adhikari) in the Uttarakhand Fire and Emergency Services Department. This is a Group B Gazetted post with 1 vacancy reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) category of Uttarakhand. The advertisement number is A-1/DR(CFO)/S-1/2026. Who Can Apply?

  • Educational Qualification: You must hold one of the following from a recognised institution in India:
    • Three-year degree in Fire Engineering from National Fire Service College (NFSC), Nagpur, or any equivalent institution recognised by law, OR
    • Divisional Officers Course from National Fire Service College (NFSC), Nagpur, or any equivalent institution recognised by a competent authority.
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Knowledge of automobile repair (motor vehicle maintenance)
    • Experience in firefighting and fire protection operations on a large scale
  • Preferential Qualification: Candidates with a minimum of two years of service in the territorial army, or a National Cadet Corps "B" or "C" certificate, or a National Service Scheme certificate will be given preference in selection.
  • Domicile: Only candidates belonging to Uttarakhand Scheduled Caste (SC) category are eligible to apply for this post.
  • Nationality: You must be an Indian citizen.

Age Limit

  • You should be between 23 and 42 years old as on 01 July 2026.
  • Your minimum age should be 23 years, meaning you should have been born on or before 02 July 2003.
  • Your maximum age should be 42 years, meaning you should have been born on or after 01 July 1984.
  • Age Relaxation:
    • SC/ST/OBC (Uttarakhand): 5 years relaxation in upper age limit
    • Freedom Fighter Dependents (Uttarakhand): 5 years
    • Persons with Disabilities (PwBD) of Uttarakhand: 5 years
    • Ex-Servicemen: 5 years (with conditions as per government rules)

Salary

  • Selected candidates will receive a salary of Rs. 56,100 to Rs. 1,77,500 per month under Pay Level-10 (7th CPC Pay Matrix).
  • You will also receive Anshdayi Pension Yojana (Contributory Pension Scheme) benefits.
  • Additional allowances including DA, HRA, TA and other benefits as per Uttarakhand State Government rules.

Physical Standards

For Male Candidates:

  • Height: General/Other Category: 167.7 cm | Hill Area (Parvateey Kshetra): 162.6 cm
  • Chest (SC/ST and Hill Area candidates only): 76.5 cm (uninflated) / 81.5 cm (inflated)
  • Weight: Proportionate to height, fully fit and free from defects

For Female Candidates:

Note: Candidates from Gorkha, Nepali, Assamese, Ladakhi, Sikkimi, Bhutani, Kumaoni, Garhwali and hill tribe communities of Arunachal Pradesh are eligible for relaxation in minimum height requirements.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in the following stages:

  1. Screening Test (Objective MCQ): This exam will be conducted only if a large number of applications are received. It will have 150 objective questions for 150 marks with a time duration of 2 hours. The screening test will be held at examination centres in Haridwar city and nearby locations.
  2. Interview (75 marks): Candidates who qualify the screening test (or all candidates if no screening test is held) will be called for an interview conducted by the UKPSC. The interview carries 75 marks.
  3. Document Verification: Candidates will be required to produce all original documents, certificates, and proofs for verification.
  4. Medical Examination: A medical fitness certificate from a government-prescribed medical authority will be required before final appointment.

Merit Determination: If both screening test and interview are conducted, the final merit will be based on combined marks from both stages. The minimum qualifying marks in the screening test will be 35% for General candidates and 30% for SC/ST/OBC candidates.

  6. Pay the application fee of Rs. 76.36 through Net Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card, or UPI.
  7. Submit the application and take a printout of the completed form.
