Udupi Cochin Shipyard Limited (UCSL) has released Vacancy Notification Ref No. UCSL/IMS/HR/VN/F/11-SUP/MEF/93 for 13 Supervisor posts at its Kochi and Malpe units. The recruitment spans three disciplines — Mechanical, Electrical and Finance — and every post is offered on a five-year contract that can continue based on project needs and your performance. Experienced professionals from the shipbuilding, ship repair, engineering or offshore sector are the ideal fit, since most posts need 7 to 15 years of relevant post-qualification experience, including time in a supervisory role.

Vacancy Details

Category-wise, the 13 posts break down into 8 UR, 3 OBC, 1 SC (backlog) and 1 EWS vacancy.

Who Can Apply?

Supervisor (Mechanical) - 10 posts:

• Qualification (Category A): Three-year Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a State Board of Technical Education, with 7 years post-qualification experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, engineering, offshore or marine-related companies (minimum 2 years in a supervisory role).
• Qualification (Category B): ITI (NTC) in Welding, Sheet Metal, Bench Fitter, Fitter or Plumber trade, with 15 years of similar experience (minimum 3 years supervisory).
• Desirable: A post-diploma qualification in NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) is an added advantage.

Supervisor (Electrical) - 2 posts:

• Qualification: Technical Diploma/ITI in the Electrical trade, along with relevant post-qualification and supervisory experience similar to the Mechanical stream.
• Desirable: Experience in Electrical QC, Production or automation/control functions.

Supervisor (Finance) - 1 post:

• Qualification: Bachelor's Degree in Commerce (B.Com), Business Management (BBM) or Business Administration (BBA) with minimum 60% marks from a recognized university.
• Experience: Minimum 7 years post-qualification experience in Finance and Accounts, including at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
• Desirable: Proficiency in MS Office, Excel and SAP.

Age Limit

• Your age should not exceed 45 years as on 1 September 2026 (you must be born on or after 2 September 1981).
• Age Relaxation: OBC candidates get 3 years and SC candidates get 5 years relaxation for posts reserved for them.
• Ex-servicemen: Relaxation applies as per Government of India guidelines, but your age after all relaxations cannot exceed 50 years.

Salary

• You will get a consolidated monthly pay starting at Rs. 40,650 in the first year of your 5-year contract, rising every year to Rs. 44,164 by the fifth year.
• Year-wise pay: 1st year Rs. 40,650, 2nd year Rs. 41,490, 3rd year Rs. 42,355, 4th year Rs. 43,246, 5th year Rs. 44,164.

Selection Process

Selection happens in 2 phases for all posts:

1. Phase I - Written Test: An Objective Type Test (40 marks) and a Descriptive Type Test (40 marks). The Objective test runs for 45 minutes and has two parts — Part A (General Knowledge, General English, Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude) and Part B (Discipline-related questions).
2. Phase II - Presentation: A PowerPoint presentation on your work experience, worth 20 marks.

The test will be held at UCSL Kochi/Malpe or a centre decided by UCSL, depending on the number of applications received.
