About This Job
Apply for 20 Associate and Junior Consultant posts in ONGC. Retired ONGC staff eligible. Salary: Rs 40,000-66,000. Last date: 12 Nov 2026.
ONGC Associate and Junior Consultant Recruitment 2026: Overview
Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) is bringing back its own retired staff as Associate Consultants and Junior Consultants for the Well Services wing of its Assam Asset, run from the O.T. Complex in Sivasagar, Assam. Selected consultants act as the competent person on charter-hired and O&M-operated work-over rigs, supervising operations in round-the-clock shifts. Only retired ONGC personnel from the Production and Drilling disciplines can apply, so this is a short contract for experienced rig hands rather than a fresh recruitment.
The engagement is purely contractual for two years: one year first, with a second year only if your performance is good and the requirement still exists. Shortlisted candidates are informed by email only about the written test and interview at an ONGC office in Sivasagar.
Posts and Disciplines
- Associate Consultant: for officers who retired at the E4 or E5 level; retired E6 officers may also be engaged if required.
- Junior Consultant: for staff who retired at up to E3 level. If too few E3-E5 retirees apply, ONGC may also engage E6-level retirees, with their pay capped at the E5 level, but only with their explicit consent.
- Disciplines: both posts are open to retirees from Production and Drilling who have long hands-on experience in work-over or drilling operations.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Shift duty: you work as a competent person in 12-hour round-the-clock shifts on rigs anywhere in the Assam Asset. In an emergency you may have to work extra hours or holidays with no additional payment, and the duty pattern can change at management's discretion.
- Medical fitness: the contract depends on clearance by the ONGC Medical Authority.
- Payment split: 80% of the monthly honorarium plus phone reimbursement is paid every month; the remaining 20% is paid at the end of the contract after a performance assessment.
- Leave: one day of paid leave per completed month, counted as two days for competent persons because of the on/off duty pattern. Unused leave lapses at the end of tenure and cannot be encashed.
- Absence: pay is cut day by day for any period you are absent.
- Second-year increment: if your tenure is extended, you get a 5% increment on the honorarium part only.
- No regular-employee benefits: you get none of the allowances or facilities of regular ONGC staff, no financial powers, and no claim to regular employment later.
- Accommodation: you must arrange your own stay in the Assam Asset area.
- Tax: the package already includes service tax, which you bear yourself.
- Termination: either side can end the contract with one month's notice, and ONGC can cancel it at any time without giving a reason.
- Number of posts: ONGC may change the number of positions in each post depending on how many people apply.
- Travel: no TA/DA is paid for attending the written test or interview.
