Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), an Autonomous Institution of the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India and a Deemed University, has released Advertisement No. 2026/8 for the post of Administrative Officer (C) tenable at TIFR Mumbai. This is an Unreserved (UR) post and selection is through Written Test, Skill Test and Personal Interview. Government, semi-government, PSU and autonomous body employees can apply with prior NOC.

Who Can Apply?

Educational Qualification

  • Graduation: Graduate from a recognised University/Institute with an aggregate of 60% marks
  • Management Course: Diploma/Degree/Certificate course in Management or Administration from a recognised University/Institute
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in use of personal computers and applications

Experience

  • 5 years of service at Level 6 and/or Level 7 and/or Level 8, or with equivalent Total Monthly Emolument (TME)

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience in recruitment section of Government Departments and Institutes
  • Hands-on experience in maintaining reservation roster as per Government of India rules
  • Experience in compassionate appointments, pay fixation and pay protection
  • Knowledge of Government of India Rules, CCS Rules, FRSR, Establishment and Services Rules
  • Skill in handling oral and written official correspondence
  • Knowledge of data management software

Age Limit

  • Maximum age: 40 years (as on the closing date for receipt of applications)
  • Age relaxation is applicable as per Government of India rules for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD candidates
  • PwBD candidates applying for the Unreserved post should have not less than 40% disability to claim age relaxation

Salary

  • Pay Level: Level 10 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix (Pay Stage 1)
  • Total Monthly Emoluments (TME): Rs. 1,18,110 per month
  • Plus other allowances admissible as per Government of India and TIFR rules

Selection Process

The selection will be done in three stages. The Institute may conduct these stages online or in-person.

  1. Written Test: A test to check your knowledge of administrative work, rules and procedures.
  2. Skill Test: A test of your work-related skills like correspondence drafting and computer use.
  3. Personal Interview: A panel interview to assess your overall suitability.

Note: The Institute reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates called for the recruitment process based on qualifications and experience higher than the minimum prescribed.

Responsibilities

  • Handle recruitment activities, drafting and processing of recruitment notifications at TIFR
  • Maintain reservation roster as per Government of India rules and compliance reports
  • Process compassionate appointments, pay fixation and pay protection cases
  • Manage data using data management software and prepare recruitment reports
  • Handle oral and written official correspondence with Government agencies and applicants
  • Apply CCS Rules, FRSR, Establishment and Service Rules in personnel matters
  • Work on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays when required by Institute exigencies
  • Coordinate with other Centres and Field Stations of the Institute on transfers and deputations

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Qualification

Graduate from a recognised University/Institute with aggregate of 60% marks AND Diploma/Degree/Certificate course in Management or Administration from a recognised University/Institute. Proficiency in use of personal computers and applications.

Allowances

Total Monthly Emoluments (TME) of Rs. 1,18,110 plus admissible allowances as per Government of India rules. Selected candidate will be governed by the National Pension System unless already covered by CCS (Pension) Rules 1972.
