Tezpur University Assistant Professor (Contractual) Recruitment 2026 - 2 Posts

Tezpur University, a Central University in Assam, has released Advertisement No. 26/2026 for 2 Assistant Professor posts on a contractual basis in the Department of Linguistics and Language Technology (LLT). The positions are for 11 months, or till the regular vacancies are filled, whichever is earlier, with a provision for further extension based on requirement and performance. Candidates specializing in Syntax, Cognitive Linguistics, Computational Linguistics, Morphosyntax, or General Linguistics are encouraged to apply.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification (Option A): A Ph.D. degree in the advertised area of Linguistics and Language Technology with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in your preceding Master's degree in a concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university, awarded as per UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016.
• Qualification (Option B): A Ph.D. degree from a foreign university/institution ranked among the top 500 in the QS, THE, or ARWU World University Rankings.
• Subject Area: Syntax, Cognitive Linguistics, Computational Linguistics, Morphosyntax, or General Linguistics.

Salary

• You will get a fixed emolument of Rs. 80,000 per month.
• No other allowances are admissible on top of this fixed amount.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Selection is based on your academic record and interview performance:

1. Shortlisting: Your academic score will be calculated as per UGC Regulations 2018 (Appendix II, Table 3A) and used only to shortlist candidates for interview.
2. Interview: Final selection is based entirely on your performance in the personal interview before the Selection Committee.

The interview date will be notified separately to shortlisted candidates.
