Cotton University ITEP Faculty Recruitment 2026: Overview

Cotton University in Panbazar, Guwahati is hiring a Head of Department and Assistant Professors for its new Four-Year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP), the B.A. B.Ed. course run by the Department of Education. All the posts are contractual, and selection happens through a walk-in interview on the university campus. The university says pay is negotiable for deserving candidates, so your qualifications and experience can shape the offer.

The programme follows the NCTE Regulations of 2021 and the UGC rules, which is why every post asks for a teacher-education degree on top of the subject degree. If you hold a postgraduate degree with B.Ed or M.Ed and have cleared NET/SLET or a Ph.D, this is a good chance to teach future school teachers in Assam.

Posts and Disciplines

• Head of the Department (Professor or Associate Professor in Education): the senior post that leads the ITEP department; it needs long teaching experience in a teacher education institution and a diploma or degree in Educational Administration or Leadership.
• Assistant Professor (Liberal Discipline and Pedagogy): subject teachers for the B.A. side of the course, in History, Geography, Political Science, Economics, a language post for Assamese (MIL), English or Hindi, Communicative Skills in English, and Communicative Skill in Assamese (MIL) or a Classical Language.
• Assistant Professor (Educational Studies): the core education faculty post; an M.Ed is essential and a master's in Psychology, Philosophy or Sociology is an advantage.
• Assistant Professor (Art Education): a part-time post for candidates with a postgraduate degree in Performing Arts or Visual Arts.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Nature of posts: All posts are contractual. Pay and allowances are decided by the university from time to time based on qualifications, experience and performance.
• NCTE recognition: Appointments depend on approval of the competent authority and on NCTE recognition of the ITEP programme.
• Teaching load: You may be asked to teach in one or more programmes of the university, not only ITEP.
• Reservation: Posts follow the Government of Assam and university reservation rules.
• Number of posts: The university can increase or reduce the posts, or cancel the advertisement, without giving a reason.
• Travel costs: No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.
• False information: Hiding facts or giving wrong details leads to cancellation of your candidature.

Download the prescribed application form from the Cotton University website, fill and sign it, and email a copy to registraroffice@cottonuniversity.ac.in before 5:00 pm on the last date. The notice prints the email deadline as 26.10.2025, which appears to be a typing error for 2026 since the notice is dated October 2026.

The walk-in interview is tentatively set for 31 October and 2 November 2026. Report by 9:00 am at the Conference Hall, MCB Building, Cotton University, carrying the filled form, self-attested copies of your certificates and two passport-size photographs, along with your original documents.
