Sainik School Chittorgarh in Rajasthan is hiring four Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT) and one Mess Manager on a regular basis. The school is a CBSE-affiliated, residential, English-medium boys' school run under the Sainik Schools Society, Ministry of Defence. It was set up in 1961 to prepare boys for entry into the National Defence Academy.

The notice clearly says this is not a Central or State Government job. Your service is governed by the Sainik Schools Society Rules and Regulations, 1997, even though the pay follows the 7th CPC pay matrix. Each post is reserved for one category, so check your category before you apply.

Posts and Disciplines

• TGT (Mathematics), OBC: you teach Mathematics to the cadets. A PG degree in Mathematics is desirable.

• Mess Manager, UR: a non-teaching post that runs the school's catering for cadets. A catering diploma or degree, or a JCO-level catering background, is desirable.

Post-wise Duties

You teach your subject in English medium to boarding cadets. As a residential school, the school also expects you to help with games and co-curricular activities, and you may get other residential-school duties from the Principal.

Mess Manager

You run the school mess for the boarding cadets on your own and keep the mess accounts in order.

Service Conditions and Caveats

• Not a government job: Sainik School Chittorgarh is not a State or Central Government department, and Sainik Schools Society rules apply.
• Probation: one year, extendable to two years. During probation, your service can be ended with one month's notice and without a reason.
• Transfer liability: you can be transferred to any Sainik School in India at any time.
• Stay on campus: you must live in the campus accommodation allotted to you, which is rent-free when available.
• Vacations: TGT posts are vacational staff and the Mess Manager is non-vacational, with a retirement age of 60 for both.
• Joining papers: you need two good-character certificates from an MP, an MLA or a Gazetted Officer who is not your relative. You also give a declaration that you face no criminal case, and you clear police verification.
• Absence rule: staying away from duty for two or more days without permission can end your service.
• Conduct: no money dealings with students or parents, no gifts, and no membership of a union or political party.
• Vacancies can change: the school can increase, decrease or cancel the posts.
