RRB Technician Recruitment 2026 — 6557 Vacancies

RRB (Railway Recruitment Board) is hiring 6,557 Technicians across Grade-I Signal and Grade-III trades in Indian Railways. If you have a 10th pass with ITI certificate (Grade III) or a B.Sc./Engineering Degree or Diploma (Grade I Signal), you can apply online. The last date to apply is 29 July 2026. Age limit is 18-30 years for Grade III and 18-33 years for Grade I Signal, as on 1 July 2026. Salary starts from Rs. 19,900 per month and goes up to Rs. 92,300 depending on the post.

Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) Technician Grade-I & Grade-III Recruitment 2026 - 6557 Posts

The Railway Recruitment Boards have released Centralised Employment Notification (CEN) No. 02/2026 for 6,557 Technician posts spread across Zonal Railways and Production Units all over India. The notification covers 1 post of Technician Grade-I Signal and 24 trades under Technician Grade-III, including Fitter, Welder, Blacksmith, Carpenter, Diesel Mechanical, Electrical, Machinist and more. Fitter (PU & WS) has the highest number of vacancies at 1,109 posts, followed by Welder (PU & WS) and Carriage & Wagon. This is one of the biggest railway technical recruitment drives of the year and is open to ITI holders, diploma holders and engineering graduates from across the country. You must apply separately for each Pay Level since a separate Computer Based Test is held for each one.

The "Other Disciplines" row combines Millwright, Refrigeration & AC, Electrical (TRD), Welder (OL), EMU, Electrical (PU & WS), Machinist (Workshop), Painter (Workshop), Trimmer (Workshop), Bridge and Crane Driver. Who Can Apply?

For Technician Grade-I Signal (Level 5 - Rs. 29,200/month):

• You need a B.Sc. in Physics/Electronics/Computer Science/IT/Instrumentation, OR a Degree/Diploma in Engineering in a relevant discipline.

For Technician Grade-III - All Trades (Level 2 - Rs. 19,900/month):

• You need 10th pass (Matriculation) plus an ITI certificate in the relevant trade from an NCVT/SCVT recognised institute, or an equivalent apprenticeship.
• For Technician Grade-III S&T (Signal & Telecom), candidates with 12th pass (Physics & Maths) are also eligible.

You must hold the required qualification on or before 29 July 2026. Candidates waiting for their final results are not eligible to apply.

Age Limit

• For Technician Grade-I Signal, you should be between 18 and 33 years old as on 1 July 2026.
• For Technician Grade-III, you should be between 18 and 30 years old as on 1 July 2026.
• Age Relaxation: SC/ST candidates get 5 years, OBC-NCL candidates get 3 years, and PwBD candidates get 10 to 15 years depending on their category.
• Ex-Servicemen: Relaxation equal to length of service plus 3 to 8 years, depending on category.

Salary

• Technician Grade-I Signal: Rs. 29,200 to Rs. 92,300 per month under Level-5 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix.
• Technician Grade-III (all trades): Rs. 19,900 to Rs. 63,200 per month under Level-2 of the 7th CPC Pay Matrix.
• You will also get DA, HRA, running allowance (where applicable) and other allowances as per Railway rules.

Application Fee

• General / OBC-NCL / EWS: Rs. 500 (Rs. 400 is refunded once you appear in the CBT).
• SC / ST / Ex-Servicemen / PwBD / Women / Transgender / Minority / EBC: Rs. 250 (fully refunded once you appear in the CBT).
• Payment mode: Online (debit/credit card, net banking, UPI) or through Post Office/Common Service Centre.

Selection Process

The selection will be done in 3 stages:

1. Computer Based Test (CBT): 100 objective questions for 100 marks in 90 minutes (120 minutes for PwBD candidates with a scribe). Negative marking of 1/3 mark per wrong answer.
2. Document Verification (DV): Shortlisted candidates must produce their original certificates.
3. Medical Examination: As per the medical standard applicable to your post (A3/B1/B2/C1).

Qualifying marks in the CBT: 40% for UR/EWS, 30% for OBC-NCL and SC, 25% for ST (relaxable for PwBD as per rules).

2. Register and create your account under "Create an Account" with your basic details.
3. Fill in the online application form and choose your preferred RRB, zone and posts.
4. Upload your live photo and mandatory scanned documents.
5. Pay the application fee online.
6. Submit the form and save a copy for your records.

Note: You must submit a separate application for each Pay Level, as a separate CBT will be held for each level.

• Install, maintain and repair railway signalling, electrical or mechanical equipment based on your trade
• Inspect coaches, wagons, tracks or machines for faults and carry out timely repairs
• Operate workshop tools and machinery safely as per your assigned trade
• Keep maintenance logs and report equipment faults to senior technical staff
• Follow railway safety rules and standard operating procedures at all times
• Assist in breakdown and emergency repair work when required
• Support senior technicians and engineers during inspections and audits
• Maintain spare parts, tools and inventory records at your work site
