RRB Station Master Recruitment 2026: Overview

The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) under the Ministry of Railways have released Centralised Employment Notice (CEN) No. 08/2026 to hire Station Masters for zonal railways across India. This is a separate notice for one graduate-level post, running alongside the NTPC Graduate and Under-Graduate drives (CEN 06/2026 and 07/2026). The two things that decide most applications are the aptitude test and your eyesight — besides the written CBT, you must clear a Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT), and the strict A-2 medical standard needs good vision without glasses. Any graduate who meets these rules can apply.

Service Conditions and Caveats

  • One RRB only: You can apply to just one RRB. Applying to more than one gets all your applications rejected and can bar you from future RRB and RRC exams. The RRB you pick cannot be changed later.
  • Zone preference: Inside your chosen RRB you rank the railway zones. Zones are allotted by merit, medical fitness and vacancy position, and the railway can post you to a zone you did not pick. The largest shares of posts are with RRB Mumbai, Jammu-Srinagar, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Prayagraj and Bengaluru, so check Annexure-B before choosing.
  • Eyesight is decisive: Station Master needs Medical Standard A-2. Anyone who has had LASIK or any other surgery to correct eyesight cannot be appointed, and if you fail the medical, no other post is offered instead.
  • Vision certificate before CBAT: Bring the eye specialist's certificate in the Annexure VI format to the CBAT — without it you will not be allowed to sit the test.
  • Not open to PwBD candidates: The post parameters mark Station Master as unsuitable for all benchmark-disability categories.
  • Degree must be complete: You need your graduation result in hand by the closing date; students still waiting for final results should not apply.
  • Training and bond: Selected candidates get only a stipend during training and may have to sign a surety or indemnity bond when joining.
  • Serving employees: Central/State government and PSU staff can apply directly after informing their employer, but must show a No Objection Certificate at document verification.
  • Posts are provisional: Railways can raise, cut or cancel the vacancies at any stage of the process.

Application Submission Notes

You apply online only through the link on rrbapply.gov.in. If you already created an account for any RRB CEN of 2024, 2025 or 2026, log in with the same account — details in the "Create an Account" form, including your mobile number, email and chosen RRB, cannot be edited later.

  • Aadhaar link: Verify your Aadhaar while applying. Any fee refund goes only to the bank account seeded with that Aadhaar; a family member's Aadhaar-seeded account is also allowed.
  • Exam language: Pick your CBT language in the form carefully, because it cannot be changed afterwards.
  • Photo and signature: Upload a live photograph and a running-hand signature; signatures in capital letters are rejected.
  • Corrections: A paid modification window opens after the fee deadline, but your RRB choice cannot be changed in it.
  • Helpline: Email rrb.help@csc.gov.in or call 9592001188 / 0172-5653333 (10 AM to 5 PM on working days) for portal problems.
