The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB), under the Ministry of Railways, has released a short notice for 119 Section Controller posts spread across 15 Zonal Railways. The short notice (CEN 03/2026) was published in the Employment News on 23 June 2026, and the detailed notification comes out on 14 July 2026. Any graduate can apply — there is no technical degree needed. If you missed the last Section Controller exam, this is a fresh chance to get a permanent Railway job.

Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You must have a graduation degree in any subject from a recognised university.
• Nationality: You must be an Indian citizen.
• Note: Final-year students whose results are still pending on the closing date are usually not eligible. Make sure you have your degree before the last date.

Age Limit

• You should be between 20 and 33 years old as on 01 July 2026.
• Age Relaxation: SC/ST get 5 years, OBC get 3 years, and other reserved categories get relaxation as per Railway and government rules.

Salary

• Starting salary is Rs. 35,400 per month under Pay Level 6 of the 7th Central Pay Commission.
• You will also get DA, HRA, Transport Allowance and Night Duty Allowance as per Railway rules.

Application Fee

• General / OBC: Rs. 500
• SC / ST / PwBD / Women / Ex-Servicemen / Minorities / EBC: Rs. 250
• Most of the fee is refunded after you appear in the first-stage exam (as per Railway rules).

Selection Process

The selection will be done in these stages:

1. Computer-Based Test (CBT): An objective MCQ exam testing General Awareness, Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, and General Science.
2. Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT): A psycho-aptitude test, since Section Controllers handle train movement safety. You must clear this to move ahead.

4. Medical Examination: Section Controller is a safety post, so you must meet the required medical fitness standards.

• Coordinate with station masters and loco pilots to keep trains running on time
• Manage train traffic during emergencies, accidents, and breakdowns

• Work in rotating shifts, including night duty, to ensure round-the-clock control
• Follow all railway safety rules and operating procedures strictly
• Pass on important instructions and alerts to field staff quickly
