RRB JE DMS and CMA Recruitment 2026: Overview
Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs), under the Ministry of Railways, are running CEN 04/2026 for technical and stores roles across Indian Railways, its production units and research establishments. The notice brings together engineering field posts, design-office work, workshop roles, stores management and laboratory work in one common recruitment. You choose one RRB and rank the eligible railway zones and post categories available through that board.
The recruitment is a good fit if you want to turn a diploma, engineering degree or science degree into a regular railway career. Your options depend on the exact discipline shown in the post-parameter table, so check the department, medical standard and qualification before setting preferences.
Posts and Disciplines
- Electrical JE streams: design, workshop, production, EMU, general services, traction distribution and traction rolling stock work.
- Civil JE streams: bridges, permanent way, works, track machines, research and design or drawing assignments.
- Mechanical JE streams: carriage and wagon, diesel sheds, workshops, production, millwright and mechanical design functions.
- Signal and Telecommunication JE streams: signal, telecom, workshop, design and research-linked technical roles.
- Depot Material Superintendent: engineering graduates and diploma holders can manage material planning and stores-depot operations.
- Chemical and Metallurgical Assistant: science graduates work with physics, chemistry, material testing and metallurgical support.
Post-wise Duties
Junior Engineer
You will inspect assets, prepare technical records, help plan maintenance and monitor work in your assigned engineering discipline. Depending on your option, you may work with tracks, bridges, rolling stock, traction equipment, signalling systems, workshops or design drawings.
Depot Material Superintendent
You will manage material receipt, storage, issue and stock records for a railway stores depot. The work connects engineering demand with inventory control, inspection and timely supply to operating units.
Chemical and Metallurgical Assistant
You will support laboratory testing of railway materials, record observations and help check whether samples meet chemical and metallurgical specifications. The role combines practical science with quality control for railway equipment and components.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- One-board rule: You may choose only one RRB and file one common application; multiple applications can cancel your candidature.
- Preferences: Your chosen posts and railway zones are final, and partial preferences limit the categories for which you can be considered.
- Medical suitability: Each post has its own railway medical standard. If you do not meet the standard for an opted post, no alternative appointment is promised.
- Final allotment: Railway or production-unit allotment follows merit, reservation, options, medical fitness and the vacancy position when the panel is prepared.
- Communication: Keep your personal mobile number and email active because RRB updates, e-call letters and shortlisting messages use those channels.
- Serving employees: Government, railway and PSU staff may apply after informing their employer and need an NOC when called for document verification.
Corrigenda and Notices
- Corrigendum dated 18 August 2026: RRBs added the Chemical and Metallurgical Assistant category, one additional JE Electrical/TRS vacancy, the related science syllabus and an extra medical standard. The corrected scope in this listing follows that amendment.
