Who Can Apply?
For Grade B (DR) - General Cadre:
- Bachelor's Degree in any discipline with minimum 60% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwBD)
- OR Master's Degree in any discipline with minimum 55% marks (pass marks for SC/ST/PwBD)
For Grade B (DR) - DEPR Cadre:
- Master's Degree in Economics or related subjects (Quantitative Economics, Mathematical Economics, Econometrics, Integrated Economics) with minimum 55% marks
- OR Master's Degree in Finance/Banking/Business Economics with minimum 55% marks
- OR PG Diploma in Economics from a recognised institute with the related discipline
For Grade B (DR) - DSIM Cadre:
- Master's Degree in Statistics / Mathematical Statistics / Mathematical Economics / Econometrics / Statistics and Informatics / Applied Statistics and Informatics with minimum 55% marks
- OR Master's Degree in Mathematics with minimum 55% marks plus a one-year PG Diploma in Statistics
- OR Master's Degree in Data Science / AI / Machine Learning / Big Data Analytics with minimum 55% marks
Final-year students may also apply but must produce mark sheets before the interview.
Age Limit
- You must be between 21 and 30 years as on 01 April 2026 (born between 02 April 1996 and 01 April 2005)
- Age Relaxation:

Salary
- Basic pay: Rs. 78,450 per month in the scale of Rs. 78,450 - 2400 (4) - 88,050 - 3000 (7) - 1,09,050 (16 years)
- Gross monthly salary: approximately Rs. 1,54,936 per month (including DA, HRA and other allowances)
- You will also get medical benefits, leave fare concession, residential accommodation/HRA, and pension as per RBI rules

Selection Process
Selection is conducted in three phases:
- Phase-I (Preliminary - Online): Qualifying exam covering General Awareness, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning. 200 marks total. Only Phase-II marks count for final merit.
- Phase-II (Mains - Online/Written): Three papers for General Cadre (Economic & Social Issues, English - Writing Skills, Finance & Management); two papers for DEPR; three papers for DSIM. Mix of objective and descriptive questions.
- Interview: Final round for shortlisted candidates. Final merit = Phase-II marks + Interview marks.
Phase-I Exam Date: 13 June 2026 (General); 14 June 2026 (DEPR/DSIM). Phase-II Exam Date: 25 July 2026 (General); 26 July 2026 (DEPR/DSIM).

Responsibilities
- Handle policy formulation, supervision, and regulation of banks and financial institutions across India
- Manage monetary policy operations, currency management, and foreign exchange functions
- Conduct economic and policy research, prepare reports on banking and macroeconomic trends (DEPR cadre)
- Build statistical models, data analysis, and forecasts for monetary and financial decisions (DSIM cadre)
- Supervise commercial banks, NBFCs, urban cooperative banks and payment systems
- Represent RBI in inter-departmental meetings, government consultations and international forums
- Prepare briefs, internal notes and discussion papers for the RBI Governor and Deputy Governors
- Ensure compliance with RBI regulations and banking laws across the financial sector

- Negative Marking: 0.25 marks deducted for each wrong answer

Phase-II (Mains)

- For DEPR Cadre: 2 papers covering Economics (objective + descriptive)

Interview
- Total Marks: 75
- Conducted in English/Hindi as per candidate preference
Final Merit: Phase-II marks + Interview marks (Phase-I is qualifying only).
