The Office of the Collector and District Magistrate, Puri has released an Emergency Section notice for temporary engagement of boat crew in Puri District. The engagement runs from the date of joining up to 30 November 2026. Swimming ability is mandatory because selected people will work with operational boats and power boats in water-body areas of the district.

Engagement terms: these posts are purely temporary and valid only up to 30 November 2026. Selected people will receive only the fixed monthly pay mentioned in the notice and cannot claim future engagement or extra financial benefits after the engagement period ends. Boat crew will be placed with operational boats according to district needs, and the final posting will be planned after consultation with SPEO for better care of power boats that remain in water throughout the year.

Who Can Apply?

Temporary Launch Driver

• You must have a minimum 2nd Class Launch Driving Certificate issued by the proper authority.
• Fresh applicants should have the 2nd Class Launch Driving Certificate from the Director of Ports and Inland Water Transport, Odisha.
• You must pass the technical test conducted by the district administration with help from the State Port Engineer / AEE (Mechanical) / Junior Engineer (Mechanical) of SPEO.

Temporary Boat Khalashi

• You should have passed Class VII.
• Fresh applicants must have a Crew Training Completion Certificate from a Crew Training Institute.
• Prior work experience with SPEO in the same post will get preference.

Mandatory for Both Posts

• You must pass a swimming test of 200 metres in 20 minutes in a river, canal, or running water body.
• You must submit a Government medical fitness certificate before joining if selected.
• Good behaviour and conduct will be considered before engagement.

Age Limit

• Age limit: the official notice asks applicants to mention age in the form but does not state a separate minimum or maximum age.
• Date of birth: you should fill your date of birth clearly in the prescribed application form.

Salary

• Temporary Launch Driver: Rs. 13,900 per month as consolidated pay.
