National Testing Agency (NTA) Young Professional Recruitment 2026 - 16 Posts

The National Testing Agency (NTA), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Education established in November 2017, conducts several of India's most important national-level examinations, including JEE (Main), NEET-UG, CUET, and UGC-NET, serving several lakh candidates every cycle. NTA has invited applications for 16 Young Professional positions through the Pratibha Setu portal of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) — a platform that connects government organizations with candidates who appeared in the Civil Services Examination but were not selected. Only candidates registered on the Pratibha Setu portal are eligible to apply. These roles will support NTA's Academic, Legal, and Finance & Accounts functions as it rebuilds its research and assessment capabilities following the recommendations of a High-Level Committee chaired by Prof. K. Radhakrishnan.

Vacancy Breakdown by Stream

  • Academic Research: 12 posts — placed in NTA's Academic Unit, working across subjects covered by JEE, NEET, CUET, and UGC-NET, including engineering, life sciences, humanities, and management.
  • Legal Research: 2 posts — placed in NTA's Legal Unit, supporting affidavits, legal research, and coordination with counsel on examination-related litigation.
  • Finance and Accounts Research: 2 posts — placed in NTA's Finance and Accounts Unit, supporting budgeting, financial analysis, and appraisal of institutional initiatives.

Who Can Apply?

For Academic Research (12 posts):

  • You must have appeared in the Civil Services Examination and be registered on the Pratibha Setu portal.
  • A postgraduate degree in a relevant subject area, or the CSE optional subject aligned to NTA's exam subjects, is preferred.
  • A PhD (submitted or awarded) in a relevant discipline will be given preference.
  • Prior experience in academic research, teaching, or educational assessment is preferred.

For Legal Research (2 posts):

  • You must have appeared in the Civil Services Examination with Law as an optional subject and be registered on the Pratibha Setu portal.
  • You need a Master's degree in Law (LLM) from a recognised university.
  • Prior experience in legal research, litigation support, or work with a court, tribunal, law firm, or government legal department is preferred.

For Finance and Accounts Research (2 posts):

  • You must have appeared in the Civil Services Examination and be registered on the Pratibha Setu portal.
  • You need a postgraduate degree in Commerce, Economics, Finance, or a related discipline, or a professional qualification such as CA, CMA, or CS.
  • Prior experience in financial analysis, audit, budgeting, or accounts is preferred.

Age Limit

  • You should be within the age limit set by the Pratibha Setu portal for engaging Young Professionals. No separate age limit is fixed by NTA for this engagement.

Salary

  • You will get a consolidated remuneration of Rs. 80,000 per month (fixed, all-inclusive — no separate allowances), with applicable statutory deductions.
  • The engagement is for an initial 24 months, extendable by 12 months (up to 36 months total) based on your performance.
  • Your place of work will be NTA's premises in Delhi, with occasional reimbursed travel within India.
  • You get 8 days of leave per year on a pro-rata basis, plus public holidays observed by NTA.
  • Working hours are full-time, five days a week; during examination cycles you may need to work extended hours or weekends.

Selection Process

Your selection will go through these steps:

  1. Shortlisting: NTA will shortlist candidates from the applications received, based on eligibility and profile fit with the assigned stream.
  2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview, conducted either in person at NTA's premises or via video-conference, to assess your academic/analytical capability, understanding of NTA's work, and motivation.
  3. Written Test (if applicable): NTA reserves the right to conduct a written test or task-based assessment for any stream.
  4. Final Selection: The final decision rests solely with NTA, and no correspondence will be entertained on the outcome.

This is a contractual engagement — it does not create any right to regularisation, permanent absorption, or a claim to a government post. Either side can end the engagement with 30 days' written notice.

Reporting and Terms of Engagement

  • You will report to the Head of your assigned unit (Academic, Legal, or Finance and Accounts) or an officer designated by the Director General, and will be assigned a mentor who reviews your work.
  • Your performance will be reviewed after 6 months, and then annually — any extension of your engagement depends on this review.
  • You must sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement at the time of joining and keep all information you access confidential, even after your engagement ends.
  • You cannot take up other paid work, coaching, teaching, or advisory roles that conflict with NTA's work, especially with coaching institutes, publishers, or exam-preparation agencies.
