NTA Librarian Administration Recruitment 2026: Overview
National Testing Agency (NTA), an autonomous organisation under the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, is hiring for Librarian Administration at its head office in New Delhi. This is a contractual engagement for the agency’s library and reference resources, covering both printed material and digital collections. NTA conducts entrance and fellowship examinations for higher education, and this role supports the information needs of its officers and staff.
Service Conditions and Caveats
- Contract period: The initial engagement is for two years. An extension depends on your performance and the organisation’s needs, so continued service is not automatic.
- Appointment status: This contract does not give you a right to a regular appointment or absorption into NTA. Keep this distinction in mind when considering the opportunity.
- Confidentiality: Information you access at work must remain confidential. A breach can lead to immediate termination of the engagement.
- Recruitment discretion: NTA can leave the posts unfilled or cancel recruitment at any stage. Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee that you will be called for an interview.
- Conduct and disputes: Canvassing can disqualify you. The Director General of NTA will make the final decision if a dispute arises.

Responsibilities
- Set up and organise the library and its reference collection.
- Catalogue and classify printed and digital resources.
- Keep book, periodical and database inventories up to date.
- Help staff find research material and use reference systems.
- Maintain digital archives and improve information systems.
- Publish book summaries, reviews and library updates for staff.
- Manage stock registers, lending records and annual stock checks.
- Protect library resources and keep the library orderly.
Eligibility Criteria
Minimum Qualification
Open-market applicants need a bachelor's degree in Library Science or Library and Information Science and 5 years of library management experience. Retired Central or State Government, PSU or autonomous-body officials must have held a recognised library post or equivalent and have at least 5 years of library management experience.
Required Skills
Library management software, digital databases, computer systems, automated cataloguing, organisation and multitasking; working knowledge of English and Hindi.
Age Limit
Up to 50 years (as on 07 Oct 2026)
Age Relaxation:
- Retired government officials: Upper age limit: 62 years.
