NIT Warangal is hiring 1 Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the Department of Chemical Engineering for an ANRF-IRG funded research project. NIT Warangal JRF Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

National Institute of Technology Warangal (NIT Warangal), an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, has released Ref. No. NITW/2026/Ch.E/ChA/ANRF IRG/JRF dated 25 June 2026. The JRF will work on the project titled Mechanistic insights of CO2 Conversion into Methane over Engineered Perovskite-based catalysts under mild conditions. The role is temporary and linked to the project for 3 years or until project closure, whichever is earlier.

The work is based at NIT Warangal, Telangana and focuses on catalyst development, characterization, data analysis, modelling, and CO2 methanation studies. The selected candidate may also get a chance to register for a Ph.D. degree at NIT Warangal as per institute rules, but they must apply separately when Ph.D. admissions open.

This project is a good fit if you want research exposure in clean fuel conversion, heterogeneous catalysis, and experimental chemical engineering. Postgraduate Route

• Qualification: You can apply with an M.E., M.Tech, M.Sc., or M.S. degree in Chemical Engineering, Petrochemical, Materials, Metallurgical, Chemistry, Energy Engineering, or another specialization relevant to heterogeneous catalysis.
• Marks: GEN / GEN-EWS / OBC-NCL applicants need at least 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA at both UG and PG levels. SC / ST / PwD applicants need at least 55% marks or 6.0 CGPA.

Bachelor Degree Route

• Qualification: You can also apply with B.E. or B.Tech in Chemical Engineering, Petrochemical, Energy Engineering, Materials, or another relevant heterogeneous catalysis specialization.
• Marks: GEN / GEN-EWS / OBC-NCL applicants need at least 65% marks or 7.0 CGPA. SC / ST / PwD applicants need at least 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA.

Preferred Profile

• GATE: GATE-qualified candidates will be given preference.
• Lab skills: Ability to independently execute experimental procedures, especially catalyst development and characterization, is desirable.
• Data tools: Familiarity with computational tools for data analysis, modelling, and interpretation of experimental results is preferred.

Project Fit

• Research match: Profiles linked to catalyst synthesis, heterogeneous catalysis, CO2 conversion, methane production, materials testing, or reaction engineering will match the advertised work closely.
• Proof to show: Include thesis work, lab projects, publications, internships, GATE score, or coursework that supports your fit for perovskite catalysts and CO2 methanation.

Age Limit

• GEN / GEN-EWS: Maximum age is 28 years.
• OBC-NCL: Maximum age is 31 years.
• SC / ST / PwD / Female candidates: Maximum age is 33 years.

Salary

• First and second year: Rs. 37,000 per month.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)
