NIT Warangal JRF Recruitment 2026 - 1 Post

National Institute of Technology Warangal (NITW) has released a project advertisement for one Junior Research Fellow under an ANRF Advanced Research Grant project. The project title is Development of a Robust AI-Driven Multimodal Non-Contact SHM Framework using Laser Speckle and Acoustic Diagnostics. This is a strong fit if you have mechanical engineering training, programming skills and interest in vibration, modal analysis, machine learning and computer vision.

The project is sponsored by Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) under an Advanced Research Grant. The work combines laser speckle, acoustic diagnostics, percussion-based modal studies and computer vision for structural health monitoring of mechanical and civil structures. This means your daily work can include experiments, signal or image data, prototype preparation, model development and technical reporting.

Who Can Apply?

  • Qualification Route 1: You need B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering with first class/division and M.E./M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering with first class/division.
  • Marks Requirement: The notice mentions 60% aggregate marks or 6.5 CGPA at both UG and PG levels for the first route.
  • Qualification Route 2: You can also apply with B.Tech/B.E. or equivalent in Mechanical, Production, Industrial, Mechatronics, Automobile, Aeronautical or Marine Engineering.
  • Marks Requirement for Route 2: Bachelor's degree holders need at least 70% marks or 7.5 CGPA out of 10.
  • Desirable: GATE qualification is desirable but not mandatory.

Skills That Help

  • Experimental Modal Analysis and vibration knowledge
  • Python programming, CAD modelling and analysis skills
  • Prior exposure to ML/DL algorithms, computer vision, scientific writing and report writing

Age Limit

  • Maximum age is 30 years.
  • Relaxation is as per NIT Warangal institute norms for Ph.D. admissions.

The notice says the selected researcher will work on percussion-based modal studies, light-matter interactions and computer vision for SHM. That is why this post is more suitable for someone who can connect mechanical engineering fundamentals with coding, lab measurements and prototype design. If you have worked with vibration data, CAD tools, image processing, machine learning or experimental test rigs, you should clearly show that experience in your CV and certificate file.

Salary

  • First and Second Year: Rs. 37,000 per month
  • Third Year: Rs. 42,000 per month
  • HRA: 20% HRA is paid if hostel accommodation is not provided.
  • Ph.D. Benefit: The selected candidate can register for Ph.D. at NIT Warangal as per institute rules, but must apply when the Ph.D. advertisement opens.

Project duration is 3 years, but continuation depends on project rules, conduct and satisfactory progress. The post is purely temporary and can end if performance or conduct is not satisfactory. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview, so plan your travel only after you are shortlisted.
