NIT Warangal, an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Education, has released a notification for 1 Junior Research Fellow post in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The project is titled "Development of in-House three-dimensional non-equilibrium solver for hypersonic flow applications" and is sponsored by AR&DB and DRDL Lab. This is a defense-linked computational research opportunity for mechanical and aerospace engineering postgraduates who want to work on high-speed aerodynamics. The position is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project duration.

The project is funded by the Aeronautics Research and Development Board (AR&DB) and the Defence Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL), both part of India's defence research ecosystem. Who Can Apply?

• Qualification: You need a B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering, along with an M.E./M.Tech in Fluid and Thermal Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Heat Power Engineering, or any other relevant discipline.
• Preferred Skills: Prior hands-on experience with OpenFOAM, ANSYS, and MATLAB coding will strengthen your application, since the project involves compressible flow, hypersonic flows, numerical modelling, and analytical methods.

Salary

• You will get a fellowship of Rs. 37,000 per month for the 1-year project duration.
• HRA is paid as per institute rules, and you are also eligible for on-campus hostel and mess facilities, subject to availability.

Selection Process (No Written Exam)

There is no written exam for this post. NIT Warangal will select candidates through:

1. Screening of Applications: Your educational qualifications and desired skills are checked against the project's requirements.
2. Interview: Shortlisted candidates are called for an interview, which may be conducted online or offline. You should have a good internet connection if it is held online. No TA/DA is paid for attending the interview.
